Cam must look really bad in practice or something, cause I don't see why they are so ready to get rid of him without seeing his potential play out more.
If they have to trade him, then why not wait until a star is available? Don’t just trade him for some mediocre role player.
Look I get it, Twitter rewards those who say things "FIRST"....even if they get most stuff wrong they can always say...I was here FIRST....which is funny to me it is old Forum style "FIRST" nonsense. I don't know what is happening with the Rox, I don't like BS speculation, and sources to me says exactly that - I think that MEDIA has saved this country with NIXON, but it is so watered down and afraid you don't get RESPECTFUL journalism where people dig and launch investigative stories that rock the world at times. Hell on this, we don't even get what is going on, this could be from the Rox....trying to get offers, it could be from his camp as you speculated, it could be just that teams are trying to nab him for next to nothing (which we know Stone will not do)...... So, what happens is, people go on, and say...SEE...he is being traded, when there is no real understanding of the Cap, the roster size, the apron, contracts.....so it because a mish mash of BULLSHIT...... And, while you may like IKO, I had to drop him from follow because he gets so much wrong - and tries desperately to be first.....I see him as brand building as much as providing actual info. Good talk, respect what you do, but pine for the days of actual journalism and integrity. DD
The idiot said he didn't touch a ball the whole summer to give himself a break. Kids nowadays are soft.
Exactly! It makes sense if the Rockets make a move that would put Cam on the bench anyways - signing and trading for a guy using the NT_MLE like Grimes, Coby White, Ty Jerome, or NAW. So send Cam out and get a pick down the road. I would be disappointed, because I think Cam will blow up with consistent minutes, but I can see how a steadier Vet that can either A.) play high level defense (Grimes or NAW) or B.) be a secondary creator (Grimes, Ty Jerome) or scorer (White) would make sense. To just dump him would be crazy.
On the rumor itself, I do think there are real interest from outside the org. Lot of teams are hoping to buy low from us on Whitmore, because last year there was limited minutes for him (which is true). And if a team makes the same 'bane' type of offer to the Grizz, Stone's job is to listen. However, as DD and others may have point out, his salary is so low, so unless there are other players in the package. or some teams offering many draft capital, it's smarter to keep Whitmore as an asset. Give him the opportunity to prove himself. People say they're not worry about Reed, I still need to see the shooting from him. Same with some of the young guys. Out of the young bunch, Whitmore might still be one of our better 3pt prospects. Keep him, give him time to prove himself. p.s. the word is out on guys like Toumani Camara and Quentin Grimes. Getting those guys will require more player-wise and larger contracts. It'll be more than just a Whitmore.
Maybe because the rest of the league passed on him in the draft because of attitude and performance issues and his current head coach basically doesn't want to play him and the current GM is shopping him so the other teams who already didn't want him aren't willing to trade a star for him? Maybe.
Toumani Camara is one of the best defenders in the NBA. He was the real prize in the DeAndre Ayton trade.
Is there a good chance Landale’s contract will be involved if we trade Cam? I guess the 29th is Landale’s contract guarantee date.
Yes He is good, the thing is most of the NBA daily media (and I don't even mean the Blazers) know this. Which means if Blazers is selling, the price will be high. He's technically part of their core now, to pry him away will cost. And I'm not saying Whitmore in on the same level as what Camara's recent season, but there will be teams testing Stone to see which low ball offers can get a steal. It's less about if someone like a player or dislike a player, it's knowing your players worth on the market. Give him a shot, rehab his value at lesast somewhat. Selling now is selling low.
Cam must be a head case if we want to give up on him already. This is the perfect opportunity for him to earn a spot as a bench scorer. I’d like to see what he can do. But If we do make a trade I like the idea of Colin Sexton as a sixth man.
To trade him before giving him a legit chance to see what he can do with significant minutes would be crazy in my opinion but if Ime gon hold a grudge against him then so be it.
So much speculation - the tweet didn't say, the Rox were shopping Cam...... This could all be teams during the draft and after trying to get him for cheap......a big ole nothing burger. DD
I don’t think the Rockets want to sell Whitmore for anything. However, now that they have added Durant, they don’t have the patience for Whitmore’s immaturity, and whining about shots and playing time. Either he completely buys in to what Udoka and his coaching staff asks of him, or he gets traded. The Rockets aren’t going to risk him spoiling the locker room if he is unhappy with his role.
