The Rockets were a net -2.0 per game with Amen in his first 40 games. They were a net +0.4 per game in first 40 games with Reed Sheppard. Guess who got benched?
Those are all vet minimum guys. It makes sense they would just stay as opposed to go to another team. I, for one, love it. I don’t see any of those guys as “garbage”. They’ve all played well for us at different times. Great move to get Holiday back much cheaper than picking up his option. The stay ready crew is back! Another solid move by our front office.
This was expected. Hopefully all for vet mins. I still want another good shooter like Nikeil Alexander Walker or Gary Trent.

You don’t really know you’re in the doghouse until Uncle Jeff is getting more minutes than you. You’ve got to have these guys around to drive the point home. I like having all of these guys to round out the roster. If we were to replace them, it would just be with other vets, so why not have the continuity? It’s not like we drafted anyone to push them out the door.
Seems a bit disrespectful... but injuries do happen and these guys can step in. Not to mention they seem like good vets to keep around the young guns. Good to see we are bringing them back for the continuity and they are tradeable contracts.
Or Holiday or Tate for that matter. I trust all three of these guys to perform consistently at a reasonable level of competence no matter the circumstance. Not so for last year’s starting SG.
Nor are they supposed to be. The game plan doesn't allow these guys to even shoot twice a game sometimes, even if they are open.
Uncle Jeff needed to stay for many reasons, but one big one is that he gives KD a peer to pal around with.
All of 3 of them is a tad excessive, maybe 1 at best or maximum 2 .....we also need fresh blood on the bench. Other teams don't want them enough now that they have guys from the Draft or the Undrafted pool.
The Rockets will have 2-4 spots for Vet minimums and 3 two way slots. If Tate, Green, and Holiday are Vet minimums that is fine. If they sign for more than the minimum that will be disappointing because that will blow through the NT-MLE money that could be used to bring in a rotation player.
This is exactly what you want on the bench. Vets that know their role and can step in and contribute when needed.
