Yeah. That was a pretty stupid comment. Amen is the reason we are a tough matchup for SGA. He should be on him whenever SGA is in the game, even if Amen has to play 40m. Dort and Williams are always going to be a problem for us, they are both too fast for Durant and Jabari, one of which can definitely match up well with Chet. Even with Durant, OKC is still the best constructed roster in the NBA and have the ability to continue to tweak year after year. We can hope Jabari puts on enough muscle to somewhat negate Dort. I think KD can adequately guard Chet in the half court.
I'd be all in on Grimes and calling it a day... If Amen is PG by end of year, Grimes can play next to him. Certainly decent insurance against relying on Cam or Reed.
Any interest in Davion Mitchell or is he a lock to be resigned/matched by Miami? I'd definitely inquire to see if Miami would consider a sign and trade - he'd be a great fit on our team and could be our future PG.
Must use MLE to sign Ty Jerome who was the only SG in 2024 to rank in the top 10 in true shooting at 64% (others were centers and forwards). Interestingly, his TS% was the same as that of KD last year. His 10-ft floaters look awkward but were almost automatic. He made 3-pt catch and shoot at 43.9%, ranking 4th in NBA. His flaw is his 12.5% turnover rate (slightly higher than league average).
Stats and metrics don’t measure intensity or toughness. I do not believe Kennard is a winning player. He is a poor defender and has always been since his days at Duke. He plays with no intensity on defense. He is short for 3 and has a short wingspan. Doesn’t run through picks and challenge ball handler. Can’t stay in front of his man. And gets lost at times on his perimeter assignments. This is why he’s bounced around the league. Def not Udoka material. Besides this he can’t get into the paint consistently which makes him one dimensional.
