Wishlist 1. Quentin Grimes 2. Nikeil Alexander Walker 3. Gary Trent Jr. 4. Malik Beasley 5. Ty Jerome
He wouldn't even have to get starter minutes, but he would play with the starters sometimes. I'm onboard with a Kennard signing if he can be gotten. KD + Kennard + Reed actually getting some minutes + hopefully some improvement from Jabari, Amen, Tari, etc should turn us into a legitimately good shooting team. Then it's just making sure the defense doesn't take too big of a hit
I never said that about Green for the record, I think he's a tough dude (at least physically, idk about mentally) Kennard would not be expected to play a focal role--I wouldn't think of him as Jalen's "replacement". If that's anybody, it's Amen, in the sense of on-ball reps in the backcourt. Kennard would just be there to come in off the bench and knock down some shots off the ball. Dude is shooting 45% from three this decade.
Apologies. Not you per se but several on here advocate Kennard who puts zero effort on defense or playing with any tenacity and guys like Bruce Brown who can’t shoot but complain about these very things from our guys. Sorry I just don’t get it after all the complaints about weakness and poor shooting etc. i agree Kennard can shoot but he provides nearly nothing else.
Not everyone needs to be good at defense in fact lots of HOF pgs are bad at defense like Steve Nash. Jones wouldnt start for us he would be the backup so I see no problem its not like Aaron Holiday was locking people up last year.
Yeah but Jones can shoot the 3 better and actually playmake/run the offense which Holiday cant do. When FVV is shooting blanks we can have an actual option to replace him instead of sticking with FVV for 39 mins every game.
Yes he can do some of that. Each team has an identity and style and I don’t see him as a fit with what we have been trying build which is a tough defensive and resilient culture. But who knows what management and coaches are thinking. Not likely but They might think he’s a good fit.
I understand where you are coming from but if we are picking guys at or near vet min you wont find elite 2 way players . Tyus Jones shot 41% from and average 5 ast to 1 to. Even if he is bad on D, isnt that why we have Amen, Tari, Jabari etc for? We have the 2nd best defense we can hide a bad defender for 15-20 mins. However our offense is one of fhe worst and we also had bad shooters Jones would fill the holes nicely IMO.
Tier1 Caris Levert Gary Trent Tier2 Malik Beasley Tim Haradaway We need scoring guard/wing + some creation ability
I'm not sure if the numbers support Kennard as a terrible defender or lacks toughness. And I'm not sure why you'd say he's not a winner. I've never read that he's a problem in the locker room or anything less than a pro. While he's not a creator, he spaces the floor. Kennard's 6'5 206. Below are his defensive FG percentage numbers. This looks passable to me. GP DFGM DFGA DFG% Overall 64 3.6 7.9 45.7 3 Pointers 64 1.1 3.0 36.6 2 Pointers 64 2.5 4.9 51.3 Less Than 6 Ft 57 1.6 2.7 57.8 Less Than 10 Ft 63 2.0 3.6 55.7 Greater Than 15 Ft 64 1.4 3.6 37.8 Let's compare Kennard's regular-season numbers against Jalen Green's. He's an "ok" defender. Right? GP DFGM DFGA DFG% Overall 82 5.3 11.3 47.0 3 Pointers 82 1.5 4.0 37.7 2 Pointers 82 3.8 7.3 52.1 Less Than 6 Ft 82 2.7 4.5 61.6 Less Than 10 Ft 82 3.1 5.5 57.2 Greater Than 15 Ft 82 1.7 3.6 36.3 If anything, less than 6 feet from the rim, Kennard gives you a little more fight than we had with Jalen (62% vs 57.8%). If you put Kennard on the court with Durant and Thompson, your perimeter D is fine. While Kennard isn't a plus defender—he's never going to make the All-Defensive team—but that's not why you add him to your roster. Perhaps he's an affordable, veteran presence who can fill a few minutes and allow Amen to slide over and create other matchup problems.
