I was totally expecting closer to 30m per season. 25m is a steal in comparison. Now go get a SG with the MLE.
Great relationship on both sides, and allows us to open up around $14M to bring in another player if I'm not mistaken.
Love the deal. Would be curious if the Rockets offered a longer, less AAV deal but Fred preferred to test the market this offseason.
Acceptable deal, this is basically the same $45 million split into 2 payments, he can choose whether he wants to test free agency next year or not. Either way, this is appropriately priced.
curious what our salary is now w/ Fred's deal, I wonder if we can restructure KD to a 3 yr deal also in a similar manner.KD right now is 1yr/53m i think, make it 3 yr/120m
The Rockets hired Ime and listened to his input even over their initial plans. This isn't something to criticize them over.
Great deal. I’m not even a huge FVV guy but $25m and only 2 years max is an easy pill to swallow. One or two years should put Reed in a good spot or let us know if we need to use assets and trade for a guard. Classic mainstream media members having zero idea, predicting like 3/$100M
Love Fred betting on himself with the player option. Hope he balls out and proves he still has it. That’s great for him and us. Love that he’s got the incentive.
how is that a bad thing? If he doesn’t wanna be here we can trade him to a team he’ll pick up the option for.
Unless we make a big move, we won't be anywhere near the apron. We may even be able to duck the tax this year before things get really expensive next year with potential Tari/Bari extensions if we release Landale. From my quick calculations, our guaranteed salaries with Holiday and without Landale would total around 160 mil with a luxury tax threshold of 187 mil, first apron 196, second apron 208. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Great contract, he was valuable in the playoffs and this is an excellent move at $25 million for two years.
