Unfortunately, I think this is where things are headed.

Well he's on a contract year, maybe they knew the market would pay him more than they were willing to pay and that they were going to lose him for nothing is what I meant.

So the swap gives them a veteran which they do need and it could be they think Scoot needs it too. That's my guess, they see a mentor for Scoot and someone that can settle the team and make them more competitive.

Trading away Jrue Holiday for a wirey shooting guard from the Blazers that cant play defense. When has this ever blown up in someone's face.

Yep, not a total blowup but a slow dismantling.....this gives Simons the freedom to chuck.

Not sure what befuddles me more... Doc Rivers officially on the top 15 coaches list or Damian Lillard on the top 76 player list...

Blazers are r****ded for this trade lol. Simons is the better player (and no, he's not better than Jalen but almost as good, kind of wild to see how many people here think he's better but probs just recency bias) and is much younger. Boston should have been giving up the draft capital. Jrue fell off a cliff last season.

Yeah he doesn't deserve it. Dwight deserves to be on that list ahead of him, along with several other players.

    Dame's significant solo achievements include....
    1 NBA First team.
    ROY

That's it. Doesn't even have a scoring title to his name. No NBA defensive teams. Just one All NBA first team, that's it.

Might be one of the most overrated player of all time and his legacy is just based on him being clutch.

I used to frequent Blazersedge.com back in the Brandon Roy days and the articles were outstanding. Haven't been there in years and have no idea if the content is still consistently good and informative. Below is their take on the trade.

Comments indicate some of their fans actually like it because they had a strong 2nd half last season and Jrue will help take them to another level (which in the WC means making the play-in). Others agree with the very scathing article that is was terrible.

Less than 3+ years since the release of the list and if it was updated to add 2 more slots (since there are 76 players on the list)...

    • Jokic takes Lillard's spot
    • Add Kyrie.
    • Add Embiid.

He won two championships already. Go collect your paycheck and help the youngsters in Portland .

Funny. I live in Portland and the way the local news is talking about it is comical.

And Jalen didn't want to go to Phoenix. Maybe if he tosses a towel at the coach and forces his way to Los Angeles...

Has multiple All NBA 2nd teams....

Since when was he a superstar, he was always behind Curry and Harden....

I don't understand the outcry.....Lillard is also popular in Popular culture.

No one is saying he was bad, just that he's not an actual top 76 all time player. Great player, if you tell me Reed Sheppard has the career he had I'm jumping up and down with joy right now, great player, but not all time anything.

I'm not sure there is another guy on that list that has so few accomplishments. They are either multi time first teamers, champions, have a scoring title or more, DPOY or more, you get the idea.

This includes guys on there that were playing basketball before the merger.

People forget that this is the darn best basketball in the league and players that play the 2nd fiddle or are on mediocre teams at best, they are still slightly among the next best after the best.

He is over-represented because he made a brand of his Dame Time expression and being a 30 ppg scorer in 2-3 seasons.

Am I annoyed at a Top 12 or Top 15 player getting love and dough.....not really.

Another midget player who got dwarfed by Lebron, Durant, Curry, happens, in a weaker era Dame might have been amongst the best.
