The thing is, with Durant you are on a year to year window. You have to maximize that. If there is a legit piece available that can play impact minutes and help this team win a title in the next two years, they have to do that instead of worrying about developing a guy like Cam.

This will likely be our last opportunity to use a MLE with Smith and Easons contracts coming up. From an asset management standpoint, if there is a positive value player we can bring in with the MLE, we should do it. Even if it is to re-coup 2nds at the deadline.

Also, injuries happen (especially with a 37 year old star), and Shep and Cam have not shown they can be relied upon yet to win games. Bolstering our depth with a quality player in the backcourt isn't a bad idea.

Exactly that is why if the Rockets can move Sengun (or anybody) for a better fitting piece (a Brook Lopez style center or basically an all star caliber SG) - they might as well do it.

Can we afford Harden? I thought that FVV with his $44M team option was an absolute no go because it puts us well into the 1st apron. We need him to re-sign at $25M/yr or less to avoid it. I think there's a decent chance he takes that amount or less. Fred's not a $25M/yr player anymore or that might be the absolute top of his market value.

Harden's player option is $36M. Although he's older I highly doubt he takes a discount to return to Houston. At that salary I'd rather try trading some of our picks for Derrick White. He's 31 years old, an elite defensive player, and a 39% shooter from deep on high volume for the past three seasons. Although I don't know if we can afford either guy considering future extensions and the apron.

Yeah I'm not specifically targeting Sengun here, but suddenly you have a really short window to win a title with the superstar you just traded for. Roster construction has to be tailored to that, not developing guys for a few years from now. You can certainly develop some guys still, but your priority for each roster spot is "win now."

I have no idea how they evaluate Cam internally, but if they don't think he can be a legit 6th man type player next year then trading him (if he has any value?) is a good idea.

if they don't think Sengun and anchor a team with Durant and win a title then the should trade him.

The aprons & salaries mean teams are going to go in and out of contention windows like never before. '

Look at the crazy Achilles dominoes in the East.

6 weeks ago, Achilles tear for Lillard, Milwaukee was done. Cooked. Over. Trade Giannis. No way they could contend with Indiana, let alone Cleveland or Boston.

4 weeks ago, the Celtics were defending champs and had one for the next few years. Achlles tear for Tatum. Now it's done, unclear if they make it back depending on his rehab.

24 hours ago, the Pacers were either going to win the actual NBA title or were going to go into next season as the top team in the East. Achilles tear. Now what? What does that mean for....Milwaukee and Giannis? We just went full circle.

    FVV 3/60 with team options.

Trade for a starting SG like Murphy, Lavine or Sexton. Use Cam and cash in the picks.

    FVV/Reed
    Murphy/Reed
    Amen/Tari
    Durant/Bari
    Sengun/Adams

Or keep the picks and sign a vet SG like Beasley.

    FVV/Reed
    Amen/Beasley
    Durant/Cam
    Bari/Tari
    Sengun/Adams

So you agree with me that Harden is a better choice than FVV then? Because there's never been a single elite thing about anything in FVV's game.

I don’t understand why we are so infatuated with blowing this team up and trading our youth. It’s illogical. You just finished #2 in the weat. Why are we trying to become PHX. Makes no sense. KD is your swing, your only one. Hope you hit.

Very true. Pacers were suddenly going to be a tax paying team and now probably are going to pull out of those plans. No reason to pay the tax when you know you aren't going to be competing next year and Halli probably won't be right when he does come back in 2026 - 2027. There is a chance Indy lets Myles Turner go afterall.

I think we see some Amen and Sheppard back courts with both playing as combo guards.

Cam is not going to get better this year. He will not find much chance and will be more vocal aboit his frustration. We need someone who can mesh with the team right now

I think Amen will just straight up take the PT from Jalen.

    FVV/Amen/KD/Jabari/ Sengun

    off the bench: Tari/Reed/Cam/Adams

This is the 9 man rotation IMO.

I think they're trying to have their cake and eat it too. Contend now but also largely keep building around the young guys (especially Amen and Sengun) and hope one of them becomes a #1 option in his prime years.

Would really hate to see us send away Jabari, Tari, Reed, Cam, or Sengun trying to do some star chasing.

I'm not a huge proponent of trading away any more significant assets unless it's a KD-style deal that we simply cannot refuse, but I also think we need to bring in a SG with the TP-MLE once FVV's contract is negotiated. Cam is simply not ready to take a bulk of minutes off the bench on a team contending for a title.
