We just traded Jalen + Dillon + #10pick + five Nikola Jokić for KD. Terrible deal.

Can you imagine how many random Euroleague prospects we just gave away? One of them could have been the next Zan Tabak, but I guess now we'll never know.

Right now there's some 7th grade baller -- who's a huge Rockets fan -- that's destined to play at some mid-major D-1 college shaking his fist to the heavens right now saying "Houston, for all that is holy in this world, you'll rue the day that you gave up that 2032 second round pick. Damn you, Stone...DAMN YOUUUU!!"

 

A player selected in the second round has a 1–2% chance of becoming an All-Star within 5 years, a 5% chance of becoming a reliable starter, and a 78% chance of being out of the NBA. So second-round picks aren't very valuable.

 

We missed out on a chance to grab an unathletic 6'11 sharpshooter from Nacogdoches Community College that'll make 42% of his 3s in garbage time ,in which DD and others will want to sign to 3 yr deals

 

All jokes aside, those picks weren't completely without value. They could have been useful chips in some small trades. Losing them isn't a deal breaker or anything but you have to wonder, if Stone said "you can only have three" does Phoenix really back out of the deal?

Meh, not a big deal, but yeah.

 

Funny enough I’ve actually seen some clowns claim the Rockets overpaid for Durant because of these second rounders lol

 

it’s not that hard to get 2nd round picks. For example, the two trades below, mocked by some Rockets fans as irrelevant, provided 2 picks a few months ago

I doubt Suns asked for 5 2nds to begin with. I’d have to imagine they’d asked for at least another 1st and couple of 2nds along with the #10. But eventually both sides settled on 5 2nds. Just my guess

 

5 does seem like a lot. Not a deal breaker by any means (obviously), but it was surprising when I first heard it

 

I'm going to hold a forever grudge for giving up our #10 franchise player pick instead of Scrubari Smith. You better hope there's no good players on this loaded draft past the 9th pick.
