Is there a way we can give Fred's max to Jalen Williams?

Amen - Williams - Eason - Durant - Sengun wuuuuutttt that would be sick

Some of y'all hate FVV way too much and it is clouding your judgement. Schroeder? Westbrook??

None of the options out there are viable. I know Fred had a down year, I know even prior to last season it wasn't all that impressive, but he kept the offense running steady and there is no way this coming season he will be given free reigns to hoist up shots with KD here.

You pay FVV because there is no ****ing better option. You can attempt to trade for a guard as well, but you aren't going to find a replacement for FVVs leadership and calm demeanor in the clutch.

6 million plus 8 million when you release Landale. 2.2 million to release Nate Williams unguaranteed contract. Another 4.9 million for not picking up the team option for Aaron Holiday. So 21.1m. It’s all moot anyway. The Rockets are not going to let him walk. They are going to extend him for 20m or more, in my opinion. I hope I’m wrong.

Rockets won’t be able to sign anyone that can adequately replace him, and no, guys like freaking Ty Jerome aren’t the answer

We still need someone that can hit the 3! Unless we are replacing FVV with another player that can stretch the floor I see no reason why we just let him walk.

It may be better to pick up his option and let him walk next year.

That would be my 2nd choice.

First is Tyus Jones and letting him walk.

Sign AND trade FVV with the Nets to get back into the draft if Cedric Coward is around #19. FVV will help the Net’s locker room and bring stability to the team, while KD takes on the role of favored vet here. AND this will give space to grow to our younger players.

FVV thank you for your service.

Fred is great defensively and should be kept. Losing Brooks will really hurt this teams identity. People see just stats but he is a glue guy and invaluable to the young guys. He's great for Sheppards development as KD is for Smith's development.

Dillon + Jalen's salaries would have been
    25-26: $55.45 million
    26-27: $57 Milllion

KD's salary this season is $54.7 million

This doesn't really change the calculus at all.

Tyus Jones was demoted to the bench partway through the season for a Suns team that didn't even make the playoffs

There's more to basketball than raw stats in a vacuum

Fred is the tip of the spear defensively as a starting PG. He played too many minutes and was asked to do too much offensively because the team lacked other shot creators. Reduce his minutes a little and make him more of a spot up shooter. Improvement from Amen and addition of KD will do that for you.

Fred is as tough and hard nosed as anyone and we need a critical mass of those kind of players on the court at all times. Trading DB chips away at that depth a little. I would not want to let FVV walk. But it’s all moot, he and the Rockets have a deal worked out.

What makes our team work is very strong POA defense. We already lost our best in Dillon (at least got rid of Jalen who was a weak point).

If you replace Fred, who’s been a defensive anchor for us at PG with a pair of swinging doors like Jones against todays prolific scoring and attacking PG’s with Sengun and Durant or Smith in the paint as “rim protection” you’d be tearing apart the core strength and identity of this team.

We just extended Ime, we just traded for his 37 year old guy, the idea that we’re going to disregard and cheap out on him and this team is crazy.

If Fred goes out, there would need to be a real upgrade taking his place. Point guard is not a position to just **** around with.
