How about 2 months above .900 with one month above 1.000

He still hits like crap in Sugarland and he still strikes like crazy so it's not a no-brainer to bring him up. However, he's pretty much hit well at every level and he's only been in the minors for 1.5 seasons. He's ahead of schedule. He needs to figure out how not to strikeout since he's near .400 BABIP which is pretty stupid.

Some thoughts. Not good, not bad.

With Matthews on the team it's harder to move Altuve between 2B/LF. Jose will need more starts in LF/DH.

With Matthews on this team it is even more RH heavy.

Matthews makes Guillorme expendable. It's one less LH bat, but probably doesn't matter with him.

When Matthews comes up Rodgers is gone ( he may be gone anyway)

With Matthews on this team, ( and Melton healthy) Jake Meyers is suddenly the 6th fastest player on this team !! I remember 2021 when he was brought up, he was the fastest until they brought up Siri.

I'm not advocating for it but considering how Dana likes to bring people up early for the experience, I can see him up when the roster expands. I'm also pretty optimistic about him because his tools are pretty damn loud. He just needs to stop striking out one third of the time.

Twine Palmer threw a scoreless inning for Fayetteville; his last appearance was May 10 but he did not spend time on the IL.

Honestly - I trust the GM and player development people. Matthews is a very talented player - very high ceiling but flawed… when they think he is ready, he will be called up. His strikeouts and inconsistency is a valid concern. If he cuts his strikeouts down, he will likely be a star.

    Altuve still has straight-line speed

He doesn't always use it properly though

    Trey Dombroski @ Springfield: 5 IP, 5 H, ER, 3 K

Corpus got one hit, a solo homer from the recently acquired Wes Clark, in a 3-1 loss. They dropped 5 of 6 in Springfield and got no-hit on Friday.

I was a bit disappointed he was moved back down to AA. I thought he was going to get extended run up in AAA.

Three biggest risers during June: 2B Brice Matthews, C/1B Will Bush, C Walker Janek

Three biggest disappointments during June: OF/1B Luis Baez, OF Kenni Gomez, OF Nehomar Ochoa Jr.

Im a little bummed that Jancel Villarroel hasn’t taken another step up in power numbers.

I like the season infielders Chase Jaworsky and Alberto Hernandez are having. I’m anxious to see German Ramirez get extended time in full season ball. I am watching Jeron Williams closely as he gets back into regular play in Corpus. Waner Luciano is having a nice June.

Cesar Hernandez and Esmil Valencia are having good seasons; good enough to keep moving up and sustain hope for a breakout. The early returns on Colin Barber in AAA are relatively positive; he’s not overmatched and it’s worth noting he is the same age as Jacob Melton. Kenedy Corona has not broken out in June like I expected, but I still really like what he’s done so far this season; his defense and bb/k ratios are right where they need to be, he just needs to improve his power/contact quality and he will project as a big leaguer. Joseph Sullivan took a step back this month but is still overall having a great season; hopefully he gets promoted to AA soon where we will have a much better idea of how good of a prospect he will be.

Juan Fraide is heading stateside. He's been moved up to the FCL from the DSL Orange team.

In 4 appearances (3 starts, 15 IP total), Fraide is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA, He's allowed 3 runs on 13 hits, walked 2, and struck out 13.

Even though he signed at the beginning of the current IFA period, he's already 19. A good start to his pro career has gotten him off the island.

Anderson Arenaimo went 2-3 with a run scored and a stolen base for the DSL Orange team.

An 18-year-old infielder from Venezuela, Arenaimo signed at the start of the current IFA period. He's listed at 5-9, 135, which also happens to be the same size as I was when I was 18.

Anyways... Arenaimo has appeared in all but one game so far this season and has had a solid start to his career at the plate, slashing .292/.414/.417 with a homer and 6 RBI. He's appeared at every infield position except 1B. Given his size, it's probably likely that he'll never have serious home run power unless he's actually built like Altuve.

Obviously, being in the DSL and just starting off his career... there's really no point in figuring out where his floor or ceiling is located right now. But, he's probably a name to stash away deep in some corner.
