The fact that red sox offered 10yrs/300mil to Devers but didn't do the same for mookie Betts and still lost both is just malpractice. According to mookie, redsox never offered him that type of contract.
Decided to watch a little Verlander and man he is washed. 3.1 innings so far 5 hits and 4 earned runs. He should retire. DD
Sheehan's fastball wasn't fast, but he peppered the zone, and it got on the Padres with zip. Good changeup and slider. Interested to watch. If the Dodge don't ruin him again, they probably have another bullet in the chamber.
I would like to trade for him ahead of the deadline so he can retire at the all star game in an Astros hat.
His velo is on par with his career averages and his underlying numbers are about as good as he was his last 2 years in Detroit and in 2023. But the pitch value of his fastball curveball and slider are all way down. I think he can still be effective but the odds of him getting 38 more wins are close to zero. Still, he might be the last pitcher ever to get to 250.
Tigers and Pirates are playing a doubleheader today, I'm sure someone had a good reason for doing this but it sucks that Skubal started game 1 and Skenes started game 2. As a fan I feel jobbed. Karma has a sense of humor, as the makeup game from yesterday is now in a rain delay in the 9th tied 4-4. Tigers travel to Tampa tonight, so I hope the game ends about 1AM
Just saw a graph on MLB network about Pete Crow-Armstrong getting to 20HR/20SB in his 70somethingth game Top of the list of fewest games needed was Eric Davis in '87, who did it in 46 games, which is insane.
