If Jalen is in the deal, then it is likely happening in early July. Jock's guarantee date is June 29. I bet the Rockets are talking with Jock about pushing out the guarantee date in his contract to allow for just what you're saying. If so, the Rockets and Landale could then later agree to guarantee only enough of Landale's salary to make the salary matching work. They can't modify his contract to provide more than $8M for next season, though.
Amen is a restricted free agent in 2027. It is only if he accepts the Rockets' qualifying offer that he'll hit free agency in 2028. I'm pretty sure that the Rockets will extend him next summer.
Yeah, because it won't be the team's best defender on him. Imagine if a team has to put their worst defender like Steph Curry on Jalen, because there's better options on the Rockets to occupy the best defenders. Oh, wait.
You are using Amen's potential qualifying offer. He will be extended and never get to that last year. The 27-28 season will be his first on the new extension
Make sense, Ime's top priority has always been to play FVV as much as possible no matter how much it hurts the team.
then focus on another target besides a 37 yr old player. Why are we clinging to players like Fred who don’t play well? The average age of our best players is like 23yrs old. We shouldnt be desperate for a win-now move anyway. We should continue to build our team methodically. Taking a step back to take a step forward is not a terrible thing. Look what Memphis just did. They will be better off for it. Their main guys are only 25. Ours are even younger. Clinging to Fred like he’s one of the better point guards in the league is stupid. Get some freaking glasses and just watch the guy play. One can only come away seeing a declining player. He’s not the guy you hold onto with your cold dead hands, and especially not at his money.
Then have a contingency... I like Fred. I don't like $30M+ Fred... unless it is a piece for another trade. Just MHO.
Few people are "against getting Durant." The debate is what we should be willing to give up in order to get him. Are you saying that we should get him at all cost?
Amen and Reed Sheppard are so bad as PG options that the Rockets don’t even think they can function without Fred FVV is the very definition of plain oatmeal at the PG position: just bland and underwhelming
Yeah, it's a dangerous way of thinking that you can't be good without a non-star player. That's what gets GMs to overpay someone.
Jalen Green isn’t getting traded guys. If we make a move for KD it will be centered around Dillion Brooks, Fillers and picks.
If Stone's tenure has proven anything, it's that he doggedly holds on to players even if they are declining. See Eric Gordon. I'm not surprised that FVV is being held tightly. This was a guy he brought in to change the culture (along with Ime). Stone's not giving him up easily. However, I can see Stone parting with Brooks if we're adding Durant. The frontcourt is crowded with players vying for minutes. And if we're playing two bigs, Jabari and Tari are also logging SF minutes.
