The 3 billion a year to Israel , representing 0.3% of the defense budget, is a small price to pay for what the US gets out of it.

Contrast that to the $182 billion the US given Ukraine in the past 2 years, plus weapons assistance, arsenal, ground support, ATACMS etc... that was a horrible unrequited relationship. Even though it's a just cause, at a certain point things are simply unaffordable.

Stay out of the rebuilding of Gaza or Iran, but using the air force for a week is a culmination of Israel ending this saga. Ultimately you can't bomb people out of religion, they have to want democracy for themselves. And Pahlavi is a great candidate for the transition.
