Trading Bane for 4 draft picks seems to be signaling a rebuild. Memphis is not likely going to attract a ton of star talent to pair w him, we have seen the same headline for so many star players the last 15 years. "We are not trading Player X" the reason this comes up is because the franchise has made mistakes. In 12-18 months if Ja is performing still and healthy, he will demand out. You can not be in a small market and not sniff a championship, you eventually have to trade that player. Either to contender or a to LA.

Yeah but asking out and passively being traded are two pair of shoes. Actively asking out implies you might be a malcontent or a troublemaker, this tag would never leave you. Morant hasn't cracked Top 10 yet and likely hasn't cracked Top 15 arguably.
Ja Morant has a reputation for fighting minors, pointing guns at opposing players (or his friends doing so after a Pacers game), waving guns around on social media, illegally bringing guns to strip clubs and getting drunk on a game night mid season, and you are worried he will get a reputation as a troublemaker if he asks to be traded? I think it is a little too late to be worried about reputation for him. He is a trouble maker, if he is able to perform people won't care. If he is injured or is not able to perform he will be looked at as a bum, thats all it comes down to at this stage.
Ja's shooting has never really improved and his game relies far too much on athleticism. He's virtually guaranteed to miss significant portions of the seasons given his recklessness attacking the rim. I would be upset to get him.

Well, if Ja Morant wanted to build on his street-cred mistakes, Houston would offer him plenty of opportunities. Did he shake his entourage, the one that included the red laser-sight dude? Bring him, too!
