This really is the debate lol Curious what bane looks like as the main guy but hes obviously the better player. Hes also older and further into his prime. Bane choked just as hard as jalen in the playoffs this year and it wasnt his first go around. In a hypothetical fantasy draft, if i was building a team thinking about just next season, I'm taking bane. If I'm building a team for both the now and the future im likely 50/50 depending on who the other players i have are. If im mostly thinking future contention im taking jalen.
Jalen first option, he even failed as the 3rd option in the Playoffs. But overall yes, Bane's good floor is what separates them and JG is aiming higher for sure but Bane has much more foundation so to speak to count on.
Because Jalen green isn't our first option. We've also seen Bane be more than a third option. They were second seed in west not to long ago and they played better without Ja Morant that season. Big reason was Bane.
This will surprise nobody but as usual hlm is also making up crap. Harden was way more efficient than klay was.
Green scored 2 more points on 3 more attempts. He dished out 2 fewer assists, grabbed 1.5 fewer rebounds in the same amount of minutes. Bane is clearly the better player at this point. The only thing that goes for Green is his age and potential to be better in the future.
Bane is a hard worker and Jalen when he is on, is an effortless streaker and scorer. The difference right now is Bane is reliable....if he has 9 point games or 10 point games, those are not going to be many. Jalen on the outside has more talent and potential but he has to harness it, and harnessing it is hard as hell for him.
If Jalen Green is playing at a level of Bane, all KD rumors right now would involve FVV or Dillon Brooks instead.
LOL - I may not be thinking KPJ - but his SKILLSET is exactly what is missing at the PG position, and Stone and Tillman love him so his Rox journey may not be completely over, yet. DD
Hahahaha. I doubt there’s a day that KPJ doesn’t enter your mind. Do you seriously think KPJ is going to be a top 15 pg in this league or is it top 20 or top 10. Please honor us with your prediction.
I can see why someone might prefer Jalen because of his untapped potential, age and likely higher ceiling. But it's shocking to me that we have Rockets fans in this thread so out of touch that they'd say Bane is better "without question" or "by a mile." Based on what? Jalen may have greater potential as a true three-level scorer, but Bane is far more consistent, efficient and well-rounded. Bane is the superior shooter, defender and playmaker, and his scoring is nearly on par with Jalen despite typically posting a lower USG% and getting fewer attempts per game. To Jalen's credit, he is 3 and a half years younger, and he is asked with being the focal point of the offense more frequently. But aside from just general athleticism, I can't point to anything in his game where he clearly has the edge over Bane right now. And even if he made some strides his game this season, Jalen still has a long, long way to go before I'd consider him on Bane's level.
Desmond Bane was acquired for four first round picks and a swap. These is no way Jalen gets that in a trade.
I moved on from KPJ, I don't pine for players that have left. I do miss that skillset of being able to beat his man and get anywhere on the court and he could finish at the rim unlike FVV. So, to be clear, don't miss him - miss his skills. (that is 95% of what I care about as a fan) I have no idea what KPJ will or won't become, a lot will depend upon fit and opportunity - as well as his ability to mature.....same as any of our current players..
