Killed were Samar, 15; Isra, 10; Fatima, 8; and Zeinab, 7. The screams of the three wounded daughters alerted neighbours to the pre-dawn crime and they later contacted police. Ibrahim's wife of 18 years left the house before the killings to go and stay with her parents following an argument she had with her husband over failing to give birth to a son, the official told The Associated Press. Police arrested Ibrahim who later claimed to have stabbed his daughters during a moment of temporary insanity because he feared they would one day become promiscuous. Police also quoted neighbours as saying Ibrahim had not allowed his girls to attend school. Ibrahim burst into tears during his interrogation before being transferred to the prosecutor's office for further questioning, the official said. Southern Egypt is the most conservative part of Egypt, where education for girls has only recently been improving because of a government campaign.

What a complete and utter insane Bas*%rd!! That guy should receive torture then the death penalty. The truth is that he probably will recieve the death penalty quickly, versus in the US, Andrea Yates drowned all her children for virtually the same reason (that Satan would infiltrate their minds and corrupt them) and is alive and well under psychiatric care. They should both be hanged, though only the Egyptian probably will.
I would be against the death penalty in most cases such as this because it is now often too clean, and painless... btw, I just saw F.D. Khan's post, and he hits it right on...
Yeah, death penalty should be applied in both their cases. If not for any other reason than there is one less nut to worry about. I know that kinda sounds insensitive but so is what he did.
To be fair, Yates had a documented, long history of mental illness, beginning with post-partum depression after her second child, depression that deepened to post-partum psychosis (keep in mind that this was all diagnosed and documented for years before the murders) after her fifth child. IMO, she is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, but does not deserve the death penalty.
