I don't want star players like Ja and Lamelo. If you get these guys, you have to give them the key. But if they are holding your key, they aren't going to unlock anything for you. They put a low ceiling for the team.

The Grizzlies realize Ja's trade value has sunk, which is why I doubt they trade him.

But it just takes one desperate team...

There's always a valid reason why supposedly great players become available on the cheap.

He’s talented, but it’s hard to imagine this knucklehead leading the Rockets to a championship.

The offcourt issues not withstanding, it seems Ja's lost a bit from the pounding/ injuries.
I'd keep the powder dry for another.

I would easily trade multiple first round picks and Jalen for Ja. He's a top 10 player in my book.

That man needs to be in a gun-hating blue state. It’s like putting Zion in a culinary capital. Bad things will happen.

I enjoy Ja trying to stick it to the NBA with his celebrations, but I'd like to continue to chuckle from afar, not have that (plus other stuff) in house.

FWIW Sam Vecenie seems to think the Bane trade was about the Grizzlies landing assets to go star hunting for a guy like Giannis - not rebuilding. Given they have a number of young guys on cheap deals and now a decent trove of 1st round draft picks, I tend to agree. Morant and JJJ is a solid team but trading in those 4 draft picks they got for Bane plus some of their own picks plus a Zach Edey, GG Jackson, or Jaylen Wells plus a player or two to make the cap math work would be a fairly strong package to give them a new "big 3". The only concern there is how to make the cap math all work out. They are light on contracts to facilitate a trade without losing JJJ/Ja and moving KPC and Anthony along would additionally cost assets so it feels like they need to either find a 3 team deal or pull together a trade before the game changing trade to get them what they need.

After a few years you would just chuckle and shake your head about it..

Him not being able to shoot well is another thing...... but still young enough to turn it around.

    Still more hope than Zion.

Morant came into the league as a 20 year old and has lost 1-2 years being dumb so he does not have much mileage.

I agree, but if the Grizzlies don't make another big trade, their team is significantly worse and, at best, they'll repeat as a play-in team next season.

Probably the primary driver is dumping his salary so they can max out JJJ. But since they kept this trade under wraps so well, we don't know WHAT might happen with Ja or JJJ in the next 7 days.

We need shooters. This doesn't fill that void.

Nor do we need a player requiring Stone keep bail bondsmen in his phone contact list.
