    Thanks.

Just heard back that his set is from 1130-1230, so I think I'm good.

I may just stay until 11 then shoot over to his venue. If I don't catch much of Ministry so be it. It's important to my friend and I've seen Ministry.

So I guess, for the purpose of this thread, I'll be seeing my buddy who plays under the name Within the Void, who is opening for ALLEYCVT, who I have never seen, either.

Darude (Sandstorm) is in Houston tonight and a different friend of mine is opening. My wife is sick and needy. Dare I?

@mikol13 if my wife stays sick I may have an extra ticket to Ministry

Ministry show was decent. I realized that I prefer their ‘newer’ stuff released late 80’s on. It was cool to see a lot of this stuff live. Nitzer Ebb was probably the highlight for me as they played their best songs. Crowd was older and chill, fun to see some of the old farts bust out their spiky hair or Mohawks. Venue was ok too, decent sound and lighting but you can tell that house of blues is set up to sell alcohol. There was a subset of younger folks there which was pretty cool. I had fun chatting with people about ‘the good old days’ and it seemed like everyone I met who was from H-Town went to that legendary Lollapalooza in 1992.

I went across town to watch my friend Zacc’s DJ set- I had never seen him perform and man, he is ****ing talented. Not only was his set way different than your typical EDM set, he has a natural stage presence. 9PM music venue is highly underrated. Fantastic sound and lights and all of the staff there really enjoyed being there. I hung out with the owner a bit and he was really cool and down to earth and looked like a 1970’s Hong Kong Kung fu movie mob boss. The main act, alleycat, was surprisingly good and although her set was fairly predictable in terms of sampling and segues it was very good and she was a great performer.

Awesome night. I love live music.

Went to see Ministry / Nitzer Ebb/ Die Krupps last night.

Kie Krupps was pretty darn good, but the singers mic went out for about half a song. "Vaterland" sounded great.

Nitzer Ebb was fun to watch again, although it felt sooo different than it did last time I saw them in 1990, I think because Bon Harris just has a different vibe as the frontman. I was very surprised that his vocals sounded a lot like Douglas McCarthy.

Ministry was great. There was obvious effects on Al's vocals for songs like Work For Love that made his vocals more tinny, but it didn't bother me. Seeing them perform "All Day" was a highlight for me as it's easily my favorite Ministry song. I didn't get into "With Sympathy" (with the exception of "Revenge") until about 10yrs ago so there's no nostalgia there for me, but I do love the album. "All Day" and "Over The Shoulder" do however, and even with the reimagining of them, there's enough of the original sound to bring back those old memories and feelings. Overall loved the show.

I just need to vent a little and let it be known that I turned down VIP/Backstage tickets to EDC in Vegas this coming weekend. It’s the biggest EDM festival in North America. Half a million people and doing EDC free like that is why I got back into the electronic music scene and making contacts. It’s literally a bucket list item for me to do that festival like a rockstar.

I’m just too busy. I have personal business deadlines I need to make. I don’t really like Vegas. I’m trying to get back in shape and that sort of excess would take me weeks to recover from. I’m also going to ILLfest in Austin at the end of the month. Most importantly, I’ve been traveling a lot for my day job and going to shows and events for fun, to network and build my portfolio in the industry and my wife and kids miss me and I miss them. Sort of crazy to think that I’m here where five years ago I rarely left the house for anything except birthday parties, dinner or a movie.

Went to Metallica, Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies show at NRG last night. My 3rd time seeing Metallica and it might have been their best performance of the 3. Anyone else go?

How was Pantera? I just can't imagine them without Dimebag and Vinnie. Like Van Halen without Eddie or Alex.

The better half and I saw Supergrass two times last week in Melbourne, Australia. They played all of "I Should Coco," their first album. They have still got it.[IMG]

I was skeptical going in but Charlie and Zakk played it straight and didn't improvise. Phil said the show was dedicated to the brothers and clips of them played on the monitors along with Cemetery Gates. They're still worth seeing if you get the chance.

A few weeks ago I saw Sigur Ros at the Sydney Opera House.

the single best sounding venue I have ever heard. it is so acoustically perfect that the music sounded … hard to explain.

Sydney, Australia is a wonderful place.
