Ok, now I'm intrigued. I really don't want to add any bloated contract with aging and/or injured guys, but Derrick White would fit like a glove in our backcourt. Looking at his contract, it's reasonable and takes him through age 34 season if he opts into player option in year 4... https://www.spotrac.com/nba/player/_/id/23624/derrick-white

The question is what would it take to get him?

28yo, a 21-25 ranked player in the NBA at his absolute peak, due for $236 million in the next four years...

This is like the John Wall contract of the 2020's. If you can't win a championship around your #1 guy while paying him like a top 10 player in the league, what are you even doing? There's a reason Boston is making him available this offseason.

Adding Brown and White while keeping Amen and Sengun would be great.

I’d do Green, Brooks, Cam, Tari and the PHX picks.

    FVV/Reed
    White
    Brown
    Amen/Bari
    Sengun

Green + Brooks + Cam + Landale + both PHX picks for White + Brown + Hauser (what if his last name was black... haha!)

FVV (new deal at 3/99) - Reed
    White - Hauser
    Brown - Tari
    Amen - Bari
    Sengun - Adams (2/30)

Slow squad: FVV - Hauser - Brown - Sengun - Adams

    Uptempo / Run & Fun: Reed - White - Tari - Amen - Bari

I would love for us to trade for Brown, we just have to get the Celtics to agree to eat at least 30-40% of that salary.

Oh wait that's baseball, we can't do that in basketball. The absolute worst contracts in basketball are players in the 15-35 range getting paid like players in the 1-15 range because the salary cap is preventing guys like Jokic, Giannis, and Luka from making 100-150M per year.

So I guess I would not love for us to trade for Brown after all.

Brown is a nice player but very expensive. I think he fits ok.

    FVV/Brooks/Landale/Holiday/Jalen Green for Brown/White/Holiday and a 2031 swap option

    Sengun/Adams
    Smith/Tari
    Brown/Cam
    White/Reed
    Amen/Holiday

So even though Jalen doesn't play with a top 10 player or awesome team in general, even though he had better stats at 21 years old, even though Jaylen Brown has the benefit of being 4-5 years older...

    ...it's wild that I noticed?

    Ok.

Its funny that not even the biggest Boston Homer Bill Simmons wouldve called 20yr old Tatum a top-10 player, and yet there exist a Rockets fan who would make this ridiculous claim just to defend a player who looked like total crap in a first round loss by a 2nd seed to a 7th seed.

Tatum is one of those players that relies too much on his shooting and has a minimum of a bag.......but because he is also relatively tall can body up other players.

Also his motor is decent but it isn't elite to the point of having killer instinct.

Very good but also highly boring player.

Just the kind of lead player on a championship squad.

Put him on some mediocre team and watch him lead it to a Play In place, if he can do it further than that, then he is a piece.

He was on a mediocre team when he was 1st drafted, then they put a championship roster around him and he delivered as the lead dog on that championship team. He's the type of player all teams are looking for.

Don't take anything so seriously, if you watched the Pacers vs the Thunder this year, last year's Mavericks weren't close to their level.....

    not to say Boston.

Nothing against Tatum, Haliburton and SGA are just going to be way better or at least they have the trajectory to become that.

The execution and the attention to detail and adjustments on the fly have been the best I have seen in a decade.

That's my fault for poor phrasing. I meant that at 21 years old, Jalen had better ppg than Brown and that during their careers Brown has enjoyed significantly more time to develop while also playing alongside a legit dude most of that time.

I totally forgot he tore his Achilles completely, even if he gets back at 95%, those things still linger.
