No matter where KD goes, our PHX & BKN assets are gold

No worries - BKN rumored to be making rebuilding moves and PHX headed down the toilet...
Waiting for another star to shake loose or the Suns coming to grips with their fear and desire regarding Booker at the next deadline for less (or sooner, if you dont believe the company line)might be the move.
In the meantime, our assets appreciate in value.

Agreed. We need to always keep in mind the context - that we're in a great position with great leverage. We do not HAVE TO make moves to be on the right track. We want legitimate chances at championships of course but we also want longer term, sustained success. Don't underestimate chemistry, don't underestimate home grown talent and what a group of talent can achieve. Not many thought SGA would be this good when the trade happened to OKC from Clips.

On the contrary, if they trade KD for Gobert, they are likely late lottery like this at worst for the next 2-3 years. One can argue his playoff failings, but Gobert defense in the regular season is always game changing.

it's only gold if they're used as trade assets which I have zero belief that Stone knows how to trade for actual players.

We have a part in making these picks gold. If we were to give Jalen and Jabari and a pick(s). The Suns could use the pick to solve their center problem and could make a fairly significant turnaround. Jabari and Jalen could very well thrive in a balanced more open offensive system. Jalen would play the Robin role where he belongs. His driving game will flourish if he is guarded one on one and is not tasked with a lot of Iso plays. Jabari has been terribly underutilized by Ime. Booker, Jalen, Allen, Jabari, and a decent center is a decent enough starting line-up for Phoenix to make the play-in maybe even the playoffs depending on injuries that always have an effect on the league. I think this is the off-season we need to utilize the Phoenix picks if possible, because I think they will decline in value each year you hang onto them. #10 will obviously decline if we use it.

While I agree that we presently have some good pick assets, we’ve seen how things can change so quickly. I have come to the belief that these picks are never as good as we think they’ll be or bad as we think they’ll be, the further out they are. There’s just so much that can happen in between now and the time some of these picks convey. Just look at Dallas. They now have a future. A couple weeks ago they didn’t.

holding onto picks way out in the future is helpful because it gives u more time to trade or use that asset. But potential for picks to devalue is real. God forbid the Suns make a wise move or two. I don’t think the Suns picks will ever be late round picks, but they could be late lotto picks. I think the 2027 Brooklyn and Phoenix picks are our best assets. The likelihood that those picks are good lotto picks is more secure than the 2029 picks/swaps.

Is 1 Dallas pick 4 years from now enough for me to root against Flagg being a good player?

    Yes.

No, not definitively. Two years is a long time, and Phoenix/Brooklyn improving to even a mid-draft pick severely decreases their value below their “current perceived” value

I'm 100% against trading any future Suns picks or the Dallas swap unless it's for an under 30 superstar (all-nba level player).

I'd rather take my chances in the lottery if that's the case.. unless we are quite literally one piece away.

Him being on Dallas should be enough.
