How does Kevin Durant prevent us from seeing what happens next off-season? y’all act like he will cost every young player and every pick the 37 y/o declining player would be the best player on this team by far and addresses several of our severe weaknesses while making us significantly better…the way some of y’all talk about KD, you’d swear he just had a season like Paul George and is falling off a cliff
Durant just has to sit there and shoot. On defense he just has to use his length. He is still an effective defender on the interior. Every once in a while, they’ll let him dribble and pull up and clutch situations and he’s good at that too. Trade for him and do the 112 million extension. Let him take it relatively easy during the regular season. This does a lot for us.
The odds of his next season looking like PG are not insignificant 37 is extremely old to expect starter quality production from in the NBA. KD has looked great so far, LeBron is currently a complete anomaly, there are a number of guys like Steph, Harden etc that are still producing, but at his age, truly any moment he can fall off a cliff. Trading real value for him and extending him is expecting him to be producing at a high level a whole 2-3 years from now. It’s a real risk
The mistake you made was thinking I was actually talking to a nobody such as yourself. I was talking to the Rockets front office.......and they heard me. Thank you Rockets. _______ Can't control if Suns are asking too much for Durant. Can't control Spurs and Sixers swapping picks Can't control Durant going to Spurs (if it's an overpay) BUT CAN SIGN STEVEN ADAMS to keep him out of their plans.
KD will want $120 million reasons he will be a major risk at 37 and you are potentially mortgaging future young talent that as a value will likely be better than him in three years. Some people didn't think Amen was going to improve or be good and wanted to trade back then, same with Sengun defensively. They just looked at the present and couldn't imagine the future growth. NBA players hit their peak prime typically ages 26-30, their early and late primes from 24-33 or so. Some folks only look at the present and can't imagine a talented 22 year old NBA player can get better over seasons. Which almost always the case factually and historically in the NBA.
If Lebron is a complete anomaly, why isn’t KD? KD tore his Achilles at age 30 which has basically been a career ender for almost every single player in NBA history, and has averaged 28, 7, and 5 on 53/42/88 splits and 65% TS since…his basic stats didn’t change one bit after 1 of the most devastating injuries in sports KD age 34: 29, 7, and 5 on 56/40/92 splits KD age 35: 27, 7, and 5 on 52/41/86 splits KD age 36: 27, 6, and 4 on 53/43/84 splits What do u expect him to put up at age 37?
KD currently is as well, especially with a major injury post 30. The thing is, I really have no idea what to expect from KD or LeBron any given season given that they are operating at anomalies. I can’t really assume KD’s career arch will follow LBJs either. God bless both of them it would be great to see their reigns last another handful of years or so.
a drop-off for KD to me would be averaging 25, 6, and 4 on 50/38/86 splits and 62% TS…FTA maybe dropping down to 4 a game worse than any season he’s had in a long time, but still elite, still making us significantly better, and still sh*tting on anything the likes of Jalen Green could dream of giving us that is a likely KD drop off at 37 to me while him going from what he’s consistently produced the past few seasons to completely falling off a cliff and being a fringe starter or worse is a lot more unlikely my concern with KD is him missing games far more than his actual production when he’s on the court I see no reason why KD isn’t an anomaly like Lebron…at no point when it comes to aging Lebron did I ever go into a season thinking he wouldn’t be a top 15 player at worst and just fall off the face of the earth production-wise
Look, y'all, ain't nothin' gonna happen until after the Finals. If a trade were announced before that time, Silver would ****. You already have a small market NBA Finals. Not that I care about Adam "Luka Cooper" Silver's feelings.
I agree, however I think the trade details will be leaked soon. For instance, we would know something due to Social Media…etc as of now it looks like the Wolves are in the lead, I’m sure KD prefers Houston but the thought of playing with Ant Man is temping I’m sure. It just seems that Minny would be a top heavy team where as Houston would be a more balanced team with a better coach.
Rafael “Don’t judge me until 2030” Stone Ime “ready to win now” Udoka https://www.si.com/nba/nba-insider-shares-potential-holdup-rockets-acquiring-kevin-durant-suns According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, however, the Rockets are loath to make a move for aging Phoenix Suns forward (and post-2026 free agent) Kevin Durant. "Those familiar with Houston's thinking have long stressed that the Rockets are exceedingly reluctant to try to expedite their climb up the Western Conference ladder by surrendering meaningful trade assets for a player who will turn 37 in September," Fischer wrote Saturday afternoon. "It's a long-held stance stemming from the fact that most of the Rockets' most important players are under 25."
Hope Stone doesn’t budge as we’ve been rebuilding the right way. To throw that away for that fickle prick would be enough to become a full time Pacers fan.
Durant had one of the least impactful season of his career last year if you look at the advanced impact stats. Was a negative for defensive BPM and clearly shows a declining trend in impact if you look beyond counting stats. He's also missed sixty games total the past three seasons. He's getting older and isn't getting healthier playing professional sports. He'll be another year older and want an extension at a high price. You get a bump for a couple years but then have to retool after three years with a bad contract, while losing quality young talent. Some have reported Phoenix isn't giving him away for nothing and wants real assets back, you will be forced to give up long term talent. It's not worth it.
I wonder if Stone is wanting to send FVV and Ime wants to send a package of young guys I hope Stone holds it down. Sounds like Spurs won’t really give up any core pieces also
I'm not opposed to Durant, but worry about cost with his age, health. One asset is basically it. No good players.
