Just a theory... Maybe Durant deal is imminent and Adams took a little less to play with Durant again????
The only thing curious about this is that by doing this now, they've basically taken themselves out of the center market for the draft. So perhaps they already have the KD trade lineup up or they dont like any of the bigs in the draft.
Unfortunately for Tate I think he is the lone man out. I like him alot but he doesn't fit in unless they trade some other players for Durant. And Holiday is a decent backup but would look to upgrade that as well.
Is the discount based on injury risk? What's the chance that this $39M ends up covering only 2 seasons worth of games in which he's available to play?
Not worried about the lack of options. The guy looked pretty much completely healthy to me at the end of the year and he seems to keep himself in great shape. This is an A+ deal. I think it shows that we have a lot of promise and a positive culture.
Agreed, that is what I was assumed was baked into the deal. He doesn't ask for a lot more since we took a risk on him this season after injury, but he wanted a bit more security. If we load manage him like we did this year and use him in the postseason, his impact was worth it this year at that price imo.
The off-season can still be ruined by overpaying for KD and re-signing FVV to a ridiculous long deal or short but way too expensive one. But Adams is the big and veteran I’ve always wanted! Let’s get that rebrand soon so I can get myself an Adams jersey!
