Yes agreed, we can let the team grow into their prime and improve as they have the past two years, arguably one of the best improving teams in the league over two years. And there is also the option to wait for a better opportunity as there will be younger stars or free agents in coming years. It isn't Durant or nothing, you can wait for a better younger player. Preferably in his mid 20s and not about to fall off a cliff in a few years. Rookie contracts and extensions are easier to manage as the cap expands each year, with better player potential for the ROI. They are far better contracts than 37-39 year olds making $50-60 million in a potential extension.
You can also pass on the blockbuster trades if they are too expensive and pivot to valuable role players. One thing to consider is that the Phoenix picks can de-value quickly if some team bails the Suns out. Probably those teams sitting on LA picks saw a great deal of de-valuation after the Doncic trade. Our own Dallas pick may still be worthwhile, but it’s certainly not as sure of a bet when they added Flagg. It’s called opportunity cost and good business men always consider it. Guys like Trey Murphy III, Garner, John Collins, etc. could be huge additions to our teams at a cost of giving up a few of our future picks that could very well be worth less after this off-season.
Durant is not a splash move in my opinion. Maybe 5 years ago. The guy has booker who is better than any player we have and he couldn't even make the playoffs and is a year older. No thank you
I get it. I fall for it two. In the Astros forum when one of the resident experts extol the virtues of our prospects, I get happy. When they downgrade them I get unhappy. It is human nature to gravitate to people saying what you want to hear.
Agreed, make smaller moves that make sense. Going with younger vets to play a role with draft pick assets is something I can go for as well or free agents. We successfully did that with Steven Adams, and our current vets. Why not continue to fill out our strengths and needs as a team as the 22 year old core develops?
Both Booker and Durant are no Curry or Jordan, the player that gets you over the hump. Booker and Durant are elite goons, Durant more elite in his younger days, but not king slayers, just enhancing players, 1 b if you will. The thing is if you have Booker and Durant the best you can get out of them is a WCF or Final appearance on their own, you would need to pick up a 1a. Neither Tatum nor Brown are true 1 As, but they won because they had the best and deepest team......
26/6/4 with 43% from 3 and 60% EFG is not a needle mover….? Lol I must be living in an alternate universe.
He at least said things that as a Rockets fan you know makes sense (that Ime wants Durant (True), that Stone has different objective function (plausible and what I hope is True) Who cares if he only had 3k followers when he started this. I like what I’m seeing and it’s ok if others disagree. Many of us also cannot appreciate the nuances of trade negotiations and the path dependency of it. What can be true at one point could easily be ludicrous in hindsight simply because teams change course or push the chips in. It all depends on the mentality of us consumers.
These people are insane, lol. Of course we shouldn't overpay for a 37-year-old, but they're acting like KD is some washed-up scrub. It's all price-dependent. If we can get him for Jabari or Cam, plus DB/Fred and the 10th pick, then that's a great deal.
Unrelated to KD, but the Philly beat has confirmed Daryl's people took VeeJay Honeycomb to a meal. Maxey was reportedly there as well. They're rolling out the plane/meal treatment Stone gave to Jalen years back before the draft. I don't have a strong opinion either way, other than Ace might drop a spot or two in this draft.
I said he will be a Spur. I don't give a f##k what you do with it s##thead. I'm saying we need to re-sign Steven Adams. You don't like that, you know what you can do with it. P.S. I hate modern journalists and their modern day journalism and you probably shouldn't ask me what I think about you. Not two flips worth of nothing.
Trey Murphy would be an awesome fit on this team. If Zion gets hurt again and the Pelicans elect to tank next season, Trey Murphy should be a top target for us. Joe Dumars has a long history of making bad moves so that's definitely a team we could strike a good deal with. Murphy's shooting, size and ability to attack closeouts would all be welcome here. Hopefully they'll take Jalen Green and a mediocre pick for Trey Murphy.
This is how I look at it... If it's a player that will be here 3 years from now I wouldn't move them for Durant. That list to me is: Amen Thompson Reed Sheppard Jabari Smith Alperen Sengun I don't think FVV or Brooks is in deal for Ime leadership and culture reasons. That leaves: Jalen Green Tari Eason Cam Whitmore So I would do it if Durant willing to do 1 year extension... 2 not sure... I figure if you're getting 2-3 years of those guys or 2-3 years of Durant, I would gamble on Durant. I would want to move future picks and not #10 in deal. I would take 10 and swap with Brooklyn for 3 of their last picks. Then pickup depth pieces such as Steven Adams replacement, future Brooks replacement, etc. Maybe a couple of euro stash players....
Wolves will be better than the Rockets if this happens Rockets will slide down to 5th in the West at best
Yes, we can use those picks to make other moves…. You never know how these things workout. Maybe: Ja Morant LaMelo Ball Kyrie Irving Zion We could make other moves with this picks.
