Israel conducts preemptive airstrikes hitting Iranian targets

Iran would be better off adopting Ukrainian tactics of planting dozens of autonomous drones next to sensitive sites like Israel just did against the Iranian nuclear reactor than doubling down on their moped powered loitering munitions.

I expect if the IRGC does fall from this and not an internal movement, Iran is going to break into a handful of nations based on ethnic lines. Israel would gladly bomb each of the new smaller nations to further weaken them like they have done to Syria.

If the Iranian people are not willing to defend their country, then they do not deserve one. There is no reason besides self-hatred that the Iranians who were guarding the various sensitive sites in Iran to allow Israeli agents access to sabotage or to abandon their posts. An Israeli wouldn’t do that.

 

To the Israeli’s credit, as devastating and embarrassing as this attack is on the surface, fewer people have died or were injured compared to if the US had done it. A few senior scientists, a college dean, and a few chiefs of armed forces among a handful of civilian casualties including a child. The apartments being blown up can theoretically be repaired. Despite the above ground reactor being destroyed, I don’t think it actually does anything to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power if it chooses to do so.

Netanyahu is one of the worst people on the planet and one of the biggest contributors to the MFGA (make fascism great again) movement of the past few years but I will say this… he is a very skilled political tactician.

What Bibi is doing here is sparking a tender box where he has the ability to claim some high ground on civilian casualties in “their” strikes while knowing damn well the US is likely to be a target here for the response and when things get real nasty the US and Trump will be the ones with the body count on their hands.

I was livid at Biden when it was so obvious he was being played by Bibi, and it looks like Trump is even more foolish. Unless Iran is all talk and actually does nothing (which is a possibility) I would suspect that Iran will likely target US military sites in the region just as much as they target any Israeli sites.

It was the most predictable turn of events and I called it out multiple times in the Ukraine thread. Gaslighting democracy supporting folks who see protecting Europe from an invading tyrant in Putin as someone we should stand up for by calling us war mongers but then months later the second you guys get the chance to bomb some brown people you turn right back to your Bush/Cheney roots.

No idea, but one thing is apparent, those who called Democrats the war mongers for supporting aiding Ukraine to fight back and defend itself against Putin's attacks, like Trump and his cult, now they have no problem wishing war on other regimes led by evil leaders like Putin. I don't feel like we are getting the truth about how this went down. Trump's out there touting this is day 61 and there was 60 days to get a deal. But, they are in the middle of negotiations. Trump would have had to update Israel that he didn't think Iran would accept a deal on their terms so Israel and USA are doing this tandem thing where Israel continues to attack Iran while Trump squawks about "make a deal now or this will get worse". I don't buy that we were not involved in the decision. I think this was their plan all along.
