Great trade if you could get LAL to bite. Reaves has become one of their core. Not sure they would value Claxton that highly even though they need a center. Maybe we sweeten the deal with one of our own frp’s.
Clips want G who plays defense apparently... they are one of the few teams to express genuine interested in acquiring Jrue. Plus Jrue (& wifey) played collegiately in LA so there is a connection already. Aaron could be waived, but it's a good PR piece having the Holiday bruhs together.
Poole on the block. Houston trades Jalen and #10 for Poole and #18. Washington wants to get younger, which they do by three years, and they have two Top 10 picks in a good class. Rockets get a more efficient shooter and a player that has shown up big in the playoffs.
Sengun/Landale/Cam for KAT. KAT converts his player option in the third year into a team option. FVV/#10/Future first for Garland. KAT/Adams Smith/Eason Amen/Brooks Green/Holiday Garland/Reed
If we could land Garland for FVV and a couple firsts, I’d just do that. I think we would have to throw in a young prospect, though. I really don’t like the idea of trading Sengun for KAT. A core of Garland, Green, Amen, Smith, Eason, and Sengun makes a ton of sense and would be competitive for a long time.
Let FVV walk. Resign Adams. Trade Brooks, Sheppard, Cam, and the #10 pick for Garland.' Exercise Holiday's option. Use our MLE for depth. Garland / Green / Amen / Smith / Sengun Holiday / MLE / Eason / Adams
Don’t really want to give up on Reed so quickly, but Garland would be an amazing fit. I could see Jalen improving efficiency too with Garland as a backcourt partner to take some load off him to create with how well Garland penetrates.
HOU gets KD, Allen WAS gets Jalen Green, Holiday, Landale (via TPE) and #10 PHX gets Poole, Brooks, and #6 would need to be executed as two deals - KD, Green, Brooks, Poole, 1sts in one deal; Holiday, Landale, Allen, nominal 2nds in the other Washington goes for the higher upside player in Jalen Phoenix gets a high quality draft asset + good role players to retool around Booker + massive tax savings (under first apron after this deal) Houston gets KD for a reasonable price and a useful but expensive role player in Grayson Allen Same deal could be done without the Allen<>Landale/Holiday portion of the deal, but I figure PHX would appreciate the extra savings
Then turn around and trade FVV and picks for Garland and filler. Amen, Garland, Durant, Jabari, Sengun. Reed, Tari, Cam Allen, Adam’s or other backup center (MLE?)
I don't love it, esp. until we know what Garland is going to be like post surgery But the roster would prolly end up looking like Garland - Reed Amen - Hauser (for 3 SRPs) acquiring Allen makes it super complicated KD - Okoro Bari - Tari Alpe - Adams What kind of assets you moving to CLE for Garland? hate to say it, but just Fred ain't it
Unfortunately, FVV makes more than Garland so by that perspective it doesn’t work, because CLE cannot aggregate contracts, so we would need a third team or Cleveland would have to make a trade with someone else, maybe into a trade exception. As far as more assets, I think 2 FRPs is ample to get the Cavs attention. Just like any team in the 2nd Apron they have few possibilities to jettison cap this year, but obtaining a 44m cap hold for one year can be enticing.
Don't give up.... they could move Okoro into another team's MLE (or ATL & BRK have large TPEs). Renouncing some old contracts could help get them below 2nd apron.
Random question - my understanding is Jalen Green's contract starts in July. However, the draft is June 25. If we trade him and the 10th pick, how would that work? Would we agree to pick the player the trading team wants and finalize the trade when Jalen's contract kicks in?
