Why do you have to be a great scorer to be an offensive engine? A lot of great playmakers don't score a lot.

John Stockton never averaged more than 18 ppg. Steve Nash never averaged more than 20 ppg. Chris Paul averaged more than 20 ppg only twice in his long career. Nobody would deny that these guys were their teams' offensive engine.

Haliburton is definitely an offensive engine. (I'm not saying he is as great as those players, at least not yet.) I wish the Rockets had an engine like him.

As I said it is all relative.

The individual I responded to did not simply say Haliburton was an offensive engine for the Pacers. He compared the talent level between the Rockets and Pacers and said the Rockets are less talented and don’t have a “singular offensive engine” like Haliburton. This implies that this fan thinks highly of Haliburton as an elite player and that he believes Haliburton is “better” than any Rocket player. I disagreed and said I don’t see Haliburton who isn’t a dominant scorer or offensive player as an “offensive engine” in this sense as compared to the Rockets players. I would take Amen over Haliburton any day.

That's fair. I think Haliburton fits my concept of an offensive engine who isn't on the level of a SGA, Luka, or Jokic based on his play this season. But we can agree to disagree on that point.

I think having such a player makes depth easier and the offense easier. Part of the constant attacking, movement, screens, etc also enhances Halliburton as well as players like Pascal and their complimentary guards.

I like Haliburton. Yes I agree with the fact he is a main cog and facilitator in that offense and one of the reasons they have been successful.

Yeah I agree. also key here is they traded PG for Shai. They did not draft him as some fans believe. What would this team look like with Jalen Williams or another draft pick as their num 1 had they not made this trade? Holmgren is simply a good player. Not very good and certainly not great. We have good players on our team as well. But like them, a trade could put us over the top.

Really wish we had utilized more of Aaron Holiday, Reed Sheppard, Uncle Jeff. Indy is really showing how powerful it is to be a deep team, and we are, we just shortened up our rotation for no reason.

The Rockets gave up on the season too early. Stone should’ve made a small deal at the deadline for some one to help us compete this year. The rockets should’ve beat gsw and would’ve beaten the twolves, probably would’ve had a chance at beating the thunder. The front office punted the season, they just wanted playoff experience

We do have that engine. He just plays at the dunker spot. Sorry, had to get obligatory Amen praise in for the day.

Yep. We punted in the playoffs for "more data". Funny thing is a lot of people were ok with that because it was a learning experience and we were able to get more info on our top two young players, but then turn around and disregard the data we got.

Hopefully Ime and Stone have a more open approach next season and are more willing to utilize the tools they chose to aquire.

I know you are a huge Amen fan. :) I am too. I have faith that he will be that engine soon.

The Pacers can SHOOT.....the Rockets can not, or the ones Ime played can't.

    Cam can
    Reed can
    Holiday can
