Dude, we've bonded in the music thread, but there is just so much wrong with your political perception of the two parties.

The most glaring being your views on orthodoxy; it is clearly "rational" Republicans who are unable to voice any disagreement with your president out of fear for retribution. I don't recall any threats of retaliation from the Dems for discontent with Biden.

However, if your content with the fascist-like direction your president is taking the country with every decision to centralize power, threaten civil liberties, illegally deport citizens, and usurp state rights, you're probably a happy camper.

I won't even mention your president's open corruption...

This is a perfect example right here.

Again, if music is our bond, then let it be our bond. I don’t have to agree with you politically for any reason whatsoever. And you can take what I say and throw it in the trash. Makes no difference to me.

There's nothing wrong with federal law enforcement personnel detaining illegal immigrants hanging out at Home Depot.

It's merely enforcing our federal immigration laws.

Every developed country in the world detains and deports illegal immigrants.

The idea that this is some great crime by Trump/The Republicans/The Federal government is absurd.

It’s always states rights when convenient, like forcing women to carry life threatening non viable ectopic pregnancies

The idea that Trump Admin is targeting criminals is likewise absurd.

Did they ever say they would ONLY target criminals? I must have missed that. Care to share a source for that with me?

    Google will share with you.

Trump on the campaign trail said that they would be primarily targeting criminal illegals. Latinos when polled before the election said that they trusted Trump to go after the criminal illegals.

Yea, Trump never said he would ONLY target criminal illegal immigrants for deportation. You've got nothing on that bud.

The Federal government may PRIORITIZE criminal illegal immigrants but that doesn't mean every other illegal immigrant is safe from being detained and deported.

Which, you know, is a totally proper thing for a State to do. Every developed State in the world detains and deports illegal immigrants.

I typed PRIMARILY not ONLY. Trump Campaign messaged the PRIMARILY to the hispanic voters ... which we can agree that was a shameless lie.

It’s estimated about 5% of people in prison are innocent of the crime they were convicted of.

You got a perfect system somewhere we can borrow?

Its a fallen world. Hopefully the mistakes get resolved as expeditiously as possible.

I would have faith in that , had the kilmar case been resolved expeditiously. That was like 3 months and there was a ton of attention on it . Furthermore, where was the goodwill to rectify the mistake ? There was none , it was heavily fought.

Mistakes are made all the time .

    I don't have a perfect system

Are you happy with how things have gone and the level of unrest ?

I am not sure what you mean by “how things have gone” that is kind of general can you be more specific?

Of course I do not support people participating in unlawful activity as far as the civil unrest goes.

I don’t have a problem with people protesting generally as long as it is legal, properly permitted (if that’s required), peaceful, responsible and generally respectful.

I don’t like when people block streets/highways or whatever because that can get people killed (blocking or delaying emergency services).

How things have gone in general refer to the events around and communication around the immigration issue/ it's enforcement

I think you and I probably have different ideas regarding acceptable civil disobedience/ protesting

I don't like blocking highways either

I think the protest level should be in concert with severity of said action you are protesting to a certain extent.

Ice agents - plain clothes , masked , taking people off the street . Earlier I said I don't have the perfect system . I know that this tactic is not right .

There have already been criminals impersonating ice and trying to kidnap people.

    This is fucjing insane

Criminals have always impersonated law enforcement to help facilitate their illegal activities.

People acting like criminals just got the idea because of ICE the last two weeks... is pretty ridiculous IMO.

I support enforcing our immigration laws. I don't like how people have treated them like a joke in the past. People are making concious decisions to violate our laws and I am suppose to act like law enforcement or the government are the bad guys for attempting to enforce the law and detain and deport people in the country illegally? GTFO with that.

I can't just cross the Canadian border, say, "I like it here, I think I'll stay forever" get a cash job or steal some Canadians SS number and then pretend I am the victim if Canadian officials detain and deport me.

    That's preposterous.

so if you run a stop sign are you a criminal?

crossing the border is not a criminal act. It is a civil offense.
It's only a crime if you've already been deported once before.
The majority of the people being unduly arrested, disappeared, or imprisoned right now by ICE have zero criminal record. Many are here legally. Some have been U.S. citizens.
