The most I would give up for Durant: FVV + 10th pick + future 2nd Suns can go F themselves if they want more. Rockets have no reason to overpay for an aging player that will more than likely be injured over the course of the season.
To not be a 1st apron team (i.e., make it work), the Rockets would have to decline FVV's team option, and then re-sign him to a lower amount. Or for those who think FVV is worthless, the Rockets could just not re-sign FVV. Granted, this won't happen.
Since Jalen is younger I think he still has some upside versus Devin Vassell, but they are certainly close. To me, we have the better offer because #10 is better than #14, Cam is better than any future pick the Spurs would offer, and Jock's non-guaranteed deal can get them under the apron. But I would certainly consider substituting Holiday for Cam and offering them a future pick if that's what they would prefer. All in all, we can still beat the Spurs if we choose to.
I said that only because I think that is why whatever trade machine Hemingway is using doesn't work. FVV's contract at the team option price just makes trades very difficult (even if he's not in them). I look forward to FVV getting re-signed hoping that it will end the constant trade proposals with FVV/people flipping out on how much he's going to cost for at least 6 months once the initial grumblings are over. Granted, I'll be happy if the Rocketsd get a better deal than I expect.
I'm not understanding what you are saying here. FVV is an expiring contract. He only has 1 year left. It gives phoenix a way out of their luxury tax bill really quickly. A FVV and Jock Landale package will save them hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few years. That is why trading with us makes more sense than anything and we shouldn't have to include any real young guys or assets other than the 10th picks. Because PHX won't run it back. They are about to pay a huge repeater tax for a lottery team.
KD's age worries me. Could easily see whoever trades for him giving him all that money for the next 3 years and his production falling off a cliff or becoming injury-prone. The guy's about to turn 37 and has already lost considerable mobility due one devastating injury. His defensive metrics took a significant dive last year in PHX too, so he's already a poor defender now at his age. He's still a bucket when healthy, but how long is he going to stay healthy at his age..? Most guys aren't Lebron. Would hate to trade these significant pieces + Draft capital for him just to be stuck with an old, injury-prone, washed up version of him. That would be worst case scenario.
KD is an outlier like Lebron and Steph when it comes to aging not only does he provide us with an actual #1 option and closer while not costing an arm, a leg, the house, and the wife and kids to acquire, but he also would give us elite shooting and floor spacing which are other things we desperately need nobody on the Suns was trying defensively this season, they were the 27th ranked defense…KD was surrounded by traffic cones, that wouldn’t be the case here I’m really not understanding the arguments against KD. Y’all mean to tell me y’all would rather roll with 3 more years of someone like Jalen Green instead of KD? Rockets going into next season with Jalen as their main shot taker again is a failure
"Ask the other 29 GMs— 26 of them would trade their whole team for our whole team and our draft picks and everything as is,"
KD is 37 and owed 55 million. You aren't going to complete a trade for a player like that without sending real talent and salary back. You have to send out salary to make it work, which is not cheap. If the reports are true and the Suns want what that previous X post listed, and are also willing to pay Booker a $75 million a year extension, they are way off base and outta there negotiation wise. He's also injury prone and has missed whole seasons. If we trade for him, pay him 55 milllion and he's hurt or falls off we will likely have a scenario where we gave up legitimate players, pick assets or young players with upside for nothing. And may get to watch them develop elsewhere. There will be other free agent and star opportunities in coming years. Impatience is what made Sacramento trade Haliburton, or Chicago making impulsive moves and are now multi year treadmill teams. With a 22 year old core already at the #2 seed last year you can be patient and play a longer game.
Yeah, we'd be a lock if we owned all their picks, hell we don't even own most of them. Washington owns 26,28 & 30 Rockets own 27 & 29. Utah owns 31 Seems to me if they "want their picks back", they'd want the immediate pick - 26 - along with the other two.
Three team deal. Rockets receive Kevin Durant and pick 4. Suns receive Dillon Brooks, Cam Whitmore , Nurkic, Josh Okogie, and Pick 10 Charlotte receives Jalen Green. Maybe need to send 2027 Phoenix to Phoenix and Charlotte gets pick 10
Some decent deals floated in here… I hope we actually get KD and his elite shooting, I just dont want to throw in Bari or any of our young core
I prefer Jabari's future over 1-3 years of Durant. This would be like trading Jeremy Pena for Francisco Lindor....
