Rockets had their shot to get a deal done or make it clear to Durant they really want him. Instead they chose to play around with PHX trying to get the price lowered by floating out he doesn't fit their timeline. So now you get to play him in the division.

That’s pretty specific. Are you claiming to have inside information?

To me, and this isn’t direct reporting, the Spurs, Rockets, and Knicks have the “easiest” paths to Durant — and I say “easiest” in terms of their financial situations.

Knicks don’t have draft picks though, whereas the Spurs and Rockets do.

No matter what, this will be a multi-team deal. The Suns will make it a point of emphasis to get under the tax lines, especially with them likely to waive Beal, and they’ll want to stack up on future assets.

If it’s the Rockets, expect Jalen Green (if he’s the one involved) to be re-routed elsewhere. I do know that the Hornets would be a team to keep a close eye on if that were to happen.

Phoenix has been doing a lot of work scouting and evaluating lottery-projected players in this year’s draft.

I would be surprised if Durant is still with the Suns by June 25.

If no KD or Giannis this offseason, then what are the Rockets gonna do?

they’re punting next season if they don’t get a legitimate #1 option

Not at all, just looking at what's come through the information put out there. There has been multiple times now we have heard from national pundits that we arent interested in Durant due to timeline and now Devin Booker because he had an off year as if anyone in the league actually buys that.

That information is coming from our front office plain and simple. Now he wants to go to the Spurs and they will add him and the number 2 pick to Castle and Wemby. Maybe year 5 or 6 or 8 is the year Jalen breaks out lol

A Durant for Towns swap may really be realistic. Suns want a center and are not wanting to tank and the Knicks fans are calling for Towns head. Durant would also be going to a team that was in the Eastern Conference finals. Whether he is a NY kind of guy since the Nets fiasco, I have no idea.

This is ridiculous, they are the team that does not need FVV, they will probably go after Jabari, Tari and Reed before FVV.......why people try to get rid of their least wanted players......

They also don't need Jalen Green as a matter of fact. But he is young enough that some crazy nut like Ishbia can be lured into....

the sad part is that the Rockets don’t even have an adequate replacement for someone as mediocre as FVV because the other PG options are that bad

If you are talking about the Suns, it would be because he is an expiring deal and they are trying to get under the 2nd Apron or more when Beal’s contract is gone. I do think you are right that they would rather have players than draft picks and want to get the best possible player they can in return. That’s why I think teams like the Knicks or Minnesota are probably getting their attention.

KD's agent is based in NYC & apparently is big time NYC sports supporter (also former exec at Roc Nation). I can def see him pushing to make it happen with Knicks.

If we can’t have him, I hope he goes to the East. Same with Giannis (who I don’t think I want at the price being mentioned).

Spurs may be getting used as leverage. Phoenix wants their picks back.

Yeah we would be a lock if we were willing to include all of their picks. Hopefully, we aren’t that stupid. If they would take Fred, the #10 and a future protected Rocket pick it would be worth thinking about. I really think the #10 pick is useless to us other than as trade bait and a future Rocket pick not worth very much either. Now if that package can get you a younger player like Garland than I would rather go that route.

If you consider that SA will not give up the #2 pick or Castle for Durant, then out of all of those teams we have the most to offer in terms of young talent and picks. An offer of Jalen, Cam, Jock, and #10 gives them young talent and gets them under the 2nd apron.

Doesn’t work money wise. We are over by 9M for allowable income. I guess we could create the room if we release Fred on the 29th. We have to wait until after the draft to trade #10 anyway.

I think if the Spurs were willing to give up Vassel the #14 and another pick down the line it might be preferable for the Suns than our offer. Vassel, Barnes (expiring) and picks works on the trade machines.

Just for fun. If the Spurs were in love with Jalen would you trade him straight up for Vassel?

Is the Post a reliable source for Knicks info. I know as a news source they are similar to the Times in that they often spew one-sided propaganda on politics, without fact checking.

We had that convo, the NBA Finals cannot end soon enough. My memory has been bad....

I do think the Suns would change their strategy from signing FA agents........
