More than 1,500 “No Kings Day” demonstrations are set to take place across the U.S. this weekend to protest the Trump Administration as President Donald Trump holds a military parade in Washington, D.C. “A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action,” stated Indivisible. “We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.” What has Trump said about the June 14 protests? Trump has promised retaliation for protesters. “For those people that want to protest, they’re going to be met with very big force,” Trump said in a statement at the Oval Office on June 10. “This is people that hate our country, but they will be met with very heavy force.” https://www.newsweek.com/pope-leo-donald-trump-chicago-dc-events-2082330
Note that many of these folks are white Americans, standing up for Democracy, and against Trump acting like a King, not a foreign American hating invasion.
Pope Leo Sells Out US Event Clashing With Parade on Trump's Birthday Within the first 15 minutes of ticket availability, more than 9,000 people requested seats for the Chicago gathering. By the end of the first day, that number had climbed to 20,000. As of Friday, the $5 tickets were completely sold out. The event will be streamed live online, although CatholicTV has not confirmed whether it will air the broadcast. Why It Matters Pope Leo's expected involvement in the Chicago event, which will be streamed online, will draw huge interest and will divide some attention away from the Trump-backed military parade the same day, the president's birthday. The pope, in his first address to world diplomats, said the dignity of migrants had to be respected, potentially putting himself on a collision course with the Trump administration, which has stepped up enforcement of immigration law, arguing voters' concerns on the topic have long been ignored. https://www.newsweek.com/pope-leo-donald-trump-chicago-dc-events-2082330
I hope they keep in mind the non-violent part of it, because as it stands now this country is a powder keg. Don't need a few bad apples ruining it for those with honest intentions. I support anyone's right to peacefully protest, unfortunately my son's new band is playing in New Hampshire on Saturday, and I am taking a day trip and an overnight. There is a No Kings rally here in Albany where I live, and this is a sanctuary city. Unfortunately, nowhere in the call for protesters does it mention peaceful or non-violent. That could be a problem. Citizen Action Capital District at NO KINGS! Mass Protest · Citizen Action of New York
The pope hasn’t been a difference maker in this country for a long long time. Nobody gives a **** about what the king of the diddler army thinks. Thank God for that.
I'm not Catholic, so won't debate what Catholics think of him. Who is the king of a diddler army? You lost me there.
Democrats' protests almost always backfire. People watch and say to themselves, "Look at these losers behaving badly. Why would I take advice from these people?"
You maybe right. . . . but we are very concerned about the President of Diddler (epstien) army (according to Elon) . . . .. Rocket River
and also funny how . . all of a sudden . . .the Repubs don't believe Elon Rocket River Gonna save 1.5 Trillion dollars!!!
Come on. Of course it's non-violent. If you look a little deeper, everyone mentions to be nice and patriotic and wave American flags. It's framed as real Americans vs authoritarians. I went to a protest in April and it seemed majority older people concerned about the future of the country, not anarchists. Hopefully more young people come out this time. Hell, even billionaire heiress' are promoting the event. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jemima...es-nationwide-anti-trump-protests-on-june-14/
I'm not attending. I have 2 people at home right now that need my help too much. Family first. I've actually never attended a protest or political rally, but appreciate that we have a country where people can voice their concerns and opinions loudly and peacefully. Well, that's the way it's supposed to be anyway.
Unfortunately, there will always be a few bad actors who will give Trump an excuse to attack all protesters as American hating thugs. That, and it will irritate him royally when hundreds of thousands protest for no Kings, and no Dictators. After all, that's exactly what he wants to be.
There are not always a few bad apples. You guys are brainwashed by a media that always shows the worst. The Trump admin is provoking a fight on purpose in L.A. by snatching people off the street in a city that is nearly 50% Hispanic. There won't be problems in 99% of the No Kings protests, but that won't make good TV.
