    I envision Vassell (also a SG???) + Barnes + #14 + lottery protected 2027 ATL FRP (otherwise 2 SRPs)

Wasn't that always part of the equation?? If they weren't offering #14, wtf were they offering?? I think it's safe to assume #10 & #14 were always going to be part of any deal between the Rockets and Spurs. It's the other draft picks + players that will separate the two teams in a deal for KD.

I see Vassell more of a SF similar to Mikal Bridges.

Spurs will get KD while we “run it back” and fall further behind in the WC

don’t even need to mention OKC, but we’re also currently not better than the Nuggets, and if we played 10 different playoff series against the Warriors, they probably win 7 of them against our current team

Lakers will try to address their C issue this offseason

Had Wemby not gotten hurt, I would agree about the Spurs.

    I’d take Vassell here.

If we run it back we will be worse than OKC, Lakers, GSW, Denver for sure and probably SA (they will have fox and Harper and maybe Durant) Hell they might have Giannis. Dallas might be able to make a move with some luck (for them). Running it back is absolutely the dumbest move(non-move) that the Rockets have done since trading for Westbrook. We were the 2nd seed, but only 4 games above the 7th seed. We were extremely lucky with the early schedule and teams missing important players.

    Meh.

You tend to exaggerate and claimed we would fall out of the playoffs repeatedly throughout the season.

Let’s just let it all play out perhaps.

That’s true, and again we were 4 games from the 7th seed and the Lakers didn’t have Doncic for most of the season. GSW didn’t have Butler for most of the season, and SA didn’t have Fox for most of the season. Yeah, so let’s run it back.

Are all of our players fixed and static assets who will be the same as they’ve been to date? Or do we have 7 (and maybe 8, depending on the draft) super young dudes who have improved every year?

Internal, organic improvement is a thing too.

Not if they are being held back by two meh vets. Are you confident that Ime is going to reduce Fred and Dillon’s minutes to develop Amen, Reed, and Jabari? Do you think Jalen is better in an up tempo offense or in a walk it up static offense? How about Sengun, did he advance his offensive game or regress?

The progress that Amen makes alone might make us a better team. Not to mention every other young player. My gut tells me Smith, Shepp and Cam will all make large jumps.

I think there is no doubt that Amen will get better. How much better will be a product of how he is used. Shep should get more minutes and improve. I think Cam is traded. The real question is how much better we can be in relation to our competition. The West was down last year. I predicted 50 wins and thought that would maybe get us the 6 seed, but certainly get us to the play-in. If we run it back I think 50 wins is the top end of what we do, with our competition, mainly, the Lakers, GSW, and SA making big jumps because of Doncic, Butler, and Fox, Harper or Giannis and a healthy Wemby.

We had the point differential of a 54 win team, we won 52 and were on pace for 54 when we shut it down after clinching, 6 of our top 8 players by minutes and FGA were college aged, we did not have opponent 3 pt shooting luck, we had our own injury problems.

If we ran the same team back our Vegas O/U win total for next season would likely be ~53-55 wins, and would definitely be top 2-3 highest in the western conference.

I've realized that a lot of the surprising takes I see on this forum come from people not actually believing we are currently quite a good team, in an extremely good situation.

I think we are a good team in a good conference. My concern is wasting our good players while we can afford them in order to squeak out a couple of wins and not getting any closer to being a contender as all the other teams around us have been making great strides. Doncic to the Lakers, Butler to GSW, Fox to SA, Dallas and SA getting the top two picks should wake people up. Not to mention getting beat by the 7th seed.

I hope Stone doesn’t fall for it and give up too much for KD. Stick to your horses, FVV, filler and 1 frp. If more the Spurs can have at it. The Spurs would be much better if they got Giannis.
