Very good illustration that I agree with. As with Jeff Green on the Rockets, Texans must restrain Chubb's usage and hopefully he can provide a "bang" each series he plays. Over a long 17-game season + playoffs, more success should not lead to more playing time.
Contract is only 2.275 million? I read he took less to play here so I wonder what his biggest offer was.
I think you meant Akers who started a couple of games who we then traded. I'm still not seeing any downside mentioned by you... Taking reps from Mixon in the preseason? Were they going to put a lot on him at his age?
The only real risk at this point is if someone thought that DP was on the precipice of breaking out as a RB and had his reps taken, or if someone believed there were some other genuine impact FAs still out there that we should sign instead. I don't see either of those as likely at all, so I'm for it. I like the idea of even when Mixon is on the sideline resting, the opposing defense still can't assume a pass, because Chubb can still be just as dangerous in small doses.
LOL, with the Bengals defense as it stands, Joe Burrow might have to throw 70 TD passes this year for them to contend.
They pretty much used the 2 mil they got back from Ronald Darby's retirement to take a flyer out on Chubb.
A couple years ago, I thought he might be the best RB in football, but Father Time’s a b**** and the game is rough, especially from someone who ran as hard as Chubb
Chubb bout to ball out watch... our offense just got better. Our run game is about to set up CJ to throw lots of TDs.
If they only use him for third downs, short yardage and goal line packages he could last for another three or four more years
