    The Rockets are a team in transition right now with out having a good pre-season. They already needed extra work due to the big turnover in the roster plus the training camp and pre-season was interrupted with the trip to China. Yao missed the last pre-season game with an injury and now the season starts with an absolutely killer schedule.

    @Detroit
    @Toronto
    @Memphis
    Sacramento
    Memphis
    Minnesota

    Not to mention the Rudy T return with the Lakers after the Minnesota game.

    The Rockets could easily go 0-6 in that stretch as they continue to find their identity and learn how to play with each other. If the Rockets could somehow go 3 and 3 or better in that stretch it would definitely be a huge boost for the team IMO.

    Those six games you mentioned are really some tough games but nowaway, we would go 0-6. I think we could win the first 3 or even we might get blown out the first game, but I don't think we would start by losing six in a row.

    We should win vs. Detroit (they are not in sync yet), in Toronto, split the Memphis games, should win against Sacramento and might lose against Minnesota.

    4-2

    Sounds ok to me.

    The Rockets could also be 6-0. Half of those games are at home and the road games are winnable, even the Detroit game. The preseason means nothing, these games are the serious games. As far as someone rolling their eyes at the talk that Detroit might not be in sync, remember, they introducing a new player or two. McDyess is expected to be an important part of the team and they're trying to ease him in while getting Rasheed back in the swing of things. Everyone has issues right now.

    3-3, nothing to cry about. a tough schedule now only means an easy one later. check our schedule in feb, march, & april. after allstar break we might have the best record in the league.

    I was thinking the same thing. I watched some of their preseason game against the Wolves and they weren't playing that well. The guys calling the game even mentioned how the Wallace's were just trying to get back into game shape after both missed most of training camp and preseason games.

    I say bring on the tough early schedule. This just means, when the team fianlly gels and really starts to play well, we will beat up on all those weaker teams down the line.

    2-4 is probably more like it, but by mid-season we should expect to be rolling pretty well.

    That's why Orlando was scheduled in Jan, people wanted to make sure we had hit our stride, so we could kick ass:D

    Detroit's starters were blowing away Minnesota in the first quarter of that game, and then the team coasted after that. The starters played some more, but they already knew they were ready so they didn't go all out. The bench was also without 2 of it's top 3 players because of slight injuries.

    If Detroit loses it won't be because Billups, Hamilton, Prince, and the Wallaces aren't prepared. If they lose it will be because they're getting their rings and pretty much having a party before the game. That's a tough game for a champ to win.

    SJC,

    4-2 would be a great way to start the season.

    The problem with saying that Detroit is not in sync yet is that neither are the Rockets. Detroit is the defending NBA champs and starting at home. Their crowd is going to be geeked up for the start of the season.

    Here's hoping you are a profit.

    crash5179, the realist! Thanks! :cool:

    No more of this "greatest team ever assembled." Les Alexander's disillusions of grander.

    I ask out curiosity, what will most of us here of Clutchfans BBS find acceptable in reagrds to what our record should be like after our first three games?

    0-6?
    1-5?
    2-4?
    3-3?
    4-2?
    5-1?
    6-0?

    I do not think a 6-0 or 0-6 start is like but so I will be satisfied with at least a 4-2 start. I think we can take all 3 home games (Against Sactown, Memphis and Minny) and at least the one in Toronto.

    We are supposely a better defensive team, if that holds true, we definitely will win more than half of those games. Teams usually don't play well in early season, good defense can really win you some games quickly.

    I think we will go 2-4. 3-3 will be OK.

    The game in Detroit is probably the hardest one to win. Just imagine Tmac being covered by Price and Yao hardly play bcoz of the injury........ I would be really really glad if SJC is right.
