I mean it’s still too much to commit to him, but 33 is a lot better than 45 or whatever he was going to get in one year. And I don’t think he gets more than 30 anywhere else. He’s good, but not that good. He is a great PG for a team that has several really good other players in the starting lineup. The 5th maybe 4th best starter on a championship team. Don’t forget the salary cap is going to be like 156 million next season. I think he easily commands 25-30 outside Houston. So 33 might not be terrible to retain his calm demeanor, veteran leadership, and shooting. still think I’d be inclined to pick up the option and overpay next season, and hope Amen of Reed are ready for the starting spot by the following season. run it back.
He's washed. Can't drive by anyone anymore. That contract will keep the Rockets from winning a championship. Unless team options allow the Rockets to cut the cord early.
I don't think VanVleet is the kind of guy you give a 5 year contract to at this point unless it's something like 5 years 108 million where it's broken down like: Year 1 - $30 million Year 2 - $25 million Year 3 - $20 million Year 4 - $18 million Year 5 - $15 million This would make sense for migrating him to the bench.
Yeah my friend I was joking. I dont mind him sticking around but he has to know that the rockets are on the way up and he has to take a discount to go along for the ride. He did his job in helping the team change its culture. But he got paid handsomely for that. Time to pay it back some of that in kind and he can stay on a good team and eventually contribute from the bench on a top 5 team in the nba.
Washed FVV was arguably our top playoff performer...He was by far the best backcourt player... Hopefully that internal growth thing happens...otherwise we're cooked...
Wish it was somewhere else. “The teams that find the Chandler Parsons, not the ones that pay them the max, are the ones that succeed long term”
Fred with FG% 37% last season, which was the worst shooting in all starting PG in NBA. I will let Fred leave.
