I’d easily give up Jalen Green for KD

people talking like Jalen’s an actual asset

he just gave us 13 ppg on 37/30/67 shooting splits and 48% TS in the playoffs, and will be getting paid an average of 35 mil/yr starting next season

2-3 years of aging KD, or 3 years of Jalen Green…give me KD without question

the upgrade is too big to ignore

imagine if the Rockets could bank on an efficient 25 points at least almost every night

Rockets were 13-1 when Jalen scored at least 30 points this season and were 19-8 last season when we were just a .500 team

the defense is already elite and championship level…the offense needs major public assistance

How long are we gonna continue eating syrup sandwiches and hamburger helper? Switch Jalen with KD, I wanna eat well.

Sounds like KD to the Spurs has legs. Honestly I’ll be relieved when the Giannis and KD frenzy is settled. I don’t think we are one guy away, and though there’s definitely a price at which I’d love to have either of those guys, I dont think we are desperate enough to pay what it would take for either player.

I’m okay hitting another single or double if we can just upgrade the backcourt.

How about Beal and Booker for FVV/Green/Landale/Holiday/Cam/2027 first top 3 protected.

    Sengun
    Smith
    Brooks/Tari
    Booker/Beal
    Amen/Reed

    Add #10

This doesn't seem very complicated to me. You move Jalen, Dillon, and the PHX 2027 & 2029 picks for Durant:

PG: VanVleet / Sheppard / Holiday
    SG: Thompson / Whitmore
    SF: Durant / #10 pick
    PF: Smith, Jr. / Eason
    C: Sengun / Adams / Landale

You keep VanVleet and Durant under 30 minutes a game and hold them out of back-to-backs. That not only preserves them for the playoffs, but allows the young guys extra time for development.

After this year, you reevaluate. Did Fred and KD stay healthy? How successful was the team? Depending upon the answer, you can extend them at numbers that make sense for them and the team considering possible extensions for our young guys. Or maybe you let them both walk and use the cap space to go after Jaren Jackson or someone else. It's a win now and look to the future move.

And anyway, what's the alternative? Blow up the entire team to bring in Giannis? Pray that Jalen makes a leap in his fifth season? Wait years to see if those Suns picks will be worth anything?

It’s not a bad idea just seems like a big time overpay for Durant. One pick preferable #10 and either Jalen or Dillon plus filler. I’d still prefer FVV, filler and #10 if that would get it done, but if Ime would reduce FVV’s role it’s a reasonable step forward.

I don't see the Rockets adding Durant but subtracting Fred in favor of keeping Jalen. Durant is a win-now move and we can all see that Jalen isn't ready yet.

Since the #10 pick has a $6M salary slot, Green/Whitmore/Landale/Nate Williams/#10 gets you to KD's salary. Now you have:

    PG: VanVleet/Sheppard/Holiday
    SG: Thompson/Brooks
    SF: Durant/Jeff Green?
    PF: Smith, Jr./Eason
    C: Sengun/Adams

That works if you're only playing Uncle Jeff on the nights that Durant sits.

Still have Dillon Brooks to throw in there too versus Jeff.

I can get behind this for sure. I’m also willing to come off the pics in 2027 or 2029 but only with protection.

no way I’m giving them back unprotected.

Spurs getting kd would be bad. Even if they give up valuable assets now.

Like stars in the future wont want to play with Wemby...

When/If Wemby becomes the dominant force hes projected to be the Spurs will have a really good team as long as he's there. A kd trade isnt going to wreck their future.

Also from the spurs perspective it may make sense to push for a championship(s) early in Wemby's career rather than assuming the 7'6 freak will remain healthy for 10+ years.

Seems like you would just want to go

    Wemby

    Vassel/Castle
    Harper/Johnson
    Fox

fill in power forward and allow that group to grow. I mean, I guess you can plug in Duran Duran at power forward and have that be a pretty viable lineup though. That being said, Harper has to show out right away and that probably won’t happen.

I think that Durant would view teams like Houston, Minnesota or the Knicks further along. I am just not sure how he gets to Minnesota or New York.

The situation here just seems to fit both parties well.

I would have a slight preference in trading Fred and keeping Jalen, but I think it will go the other way if we acquire him.

FVV/Cam/Jock/#10. to push it over the line I would probably also give them their 2027 pick back, but I would want to give it top five protection.

I really don’t see how trading Green, Cam, maybe a pick or two for KD helps us after a 1-2 years when Fred’s wheels start to fall off and KD is about done. Both of them missed a 1/4 of the season last year. Swapping FVV for KDs contract almost seems like destiny to go from phase 2 to 3

FVV / Amen so not sound like a promising backcourt for a full season. Fred avg. 37% from the field & 34.5% from 3. That’s basically two non shooters in the backcourt. This is also hoping Fred doesn’t decline anymore. That Brooks & unproven Reed front backcourt rotation hurts to see too

Feel like with a FVV & KD swap we would still have a punchers chance if everyone improves over the off season. It also still gives you the flexibility to trade Green, Cam, or Reed down the line for another upgrade if needed after KD. We still have to compete with Spurs and Dallas for the next 10-15 years. Cashing in for a FVV & KD duo is going make that harder

I’m really curious to see the direction we go. I’m fine if Jalen gets traded but this doesn’t seem like the right time. I could see Tillman, Patrick, and Stone wanting to see how the young guys keep improving vs prioritizing Fred & KD for a 1-2 year window. I don’t see the front office choosing Jalen over Fred. Maybe ime but not the front office. Jalen has too many streaks of looking like a top 3 SG. Front office is probably a little scared trading the potential after watching the kings & clippers get roasted for trading Shai & Haliburton

I dont view the Rockets as being further along than other teams he'd consider going to. Rockets had a better season last year, but growth isnt linear or guaranteed. We see teams look promising one year and fall off the next all the time. With a move (or inactivity) or two team's trajectories can easily change course.

I could see Durant wanting to go to SanAntonio because he seems to have the personality where he doesnt want to be THE man. Hed rather not have that pressure placed on him and in SanAntonio with Wemby and Fox he wouldnt be looked at as the sole savior. Thats Wemby's team.

Here, KD would be coming here as the undoubted closer and much more offensive responsibilities would be placed on him. We think Amen is that guy but its not as definite as it is in San Antonio.

Plus Udoka's style is taxing. Could be rough for a 37 yr old to go through a grinding season playing the way the Rockets want to play.

Not saying he wouldnt choose the Rockets but I dont think its a slam dunk in our favor at all. Itd definitely take some convincing on our end. Just my opinion.

Roll into this the BKN offer of Cam Johnson and #19 for pick 10, and maybe take Clayton at pick 19?

Gives a very solid backup forward and would be a real insurance plan against a KD injury.

As much as I'd prefer a Giannis trade, a cheap Durant trade (Something like FVV + Cam + 1 future Suns pick) still leaves us the flexibility to trade KD again along with the rest of our assets (Jalen, other Suns picks, our own picks, #10 player) in 2 or so years for whatever disgruntled star is available then. Leaving the door open like that won't lock us in to a core while still improving our team enough to get our younger guys late playoff experience. I don't think we win a championship with that roster but it might push some guy's development enough that the KD trade after that would be enough to build a winning team.

If we do move back in the draft, I would love to get Essengue. to be honest if we pick him up at 10 I’ll be OK with it. I’m really interested.
