I don’t know honestly. I don’t think so, but maybe in 2 years it could be. The way I see it is that it’s a gigantic all-in bet on 1 of those 2 non-shooters developing a 3PT shot because there’s no evidence anywhere that 2 non-shooters can win a title. It’s so unlikely that you have to think those two non-shooters have to be absolutely elite scorers to entertain the idea.

If it doesn’t work, we’re back to rebuilding very quickly. If it does work, it’s a 50-50 chance at a title because it’s not like we’re head and shoulders above everyone else.

Super risky I agree but Spurs acquiring Giannis could mean them and OKC dominate for half a decade.

We’re in a very tricky situation. The idea that we shouldn’t fear Giannis joining the Spurs organization and Wemby is hilarious to me. It’s our worst nightmare. Other top 20 stars will become available, but a top 3 player with a few elite years left is an extremely rare occurrence. Some franchises go decades without that caliber of player.

I’m all in on this. We cannot let Giannis end up in San Antonio. If that happens? Suddenly, it’s not crazy talk to say Rockets might be the third best team in Texas.

If it happens, San Antonio has 4 years to win or they just wasted picks and players for nothing.

That’s how I feel. If the draft Harper & BPA at #14 we might be competing with them for the next decade. If they trade for Giannis they could be better for 3-4 years before the wheels fall off and our guys our entering their primes

    2020-21: Jrue-Middleton-Tucker-Giannis-Lopez | Connaughton-DiVincenzo-Portis-Forbes (WON TITLE)
    2021-22: Jrue-Matthews-Middleton(2G)-Giannis-Lopez | Connaughton-Allen-Portis-G.Hill-J.Carter (LOST 2ND RD)
    2022-23: Jrue-Allen-Middleton-Giannis(3G)-Lopez | Connaughton-Matthews-Portis-Ingles-J.Carter-Crowder (LOST 1ST RD)
    2023-24: Lillard-Bev-Middleton-Portis-Lopez | Connaughton-Beasley-A.Jackson-Gallinari-AJ Green-Crowder (LOST 1ST RD)
    2024-25: Lillard(3G)-Trent Jr.-Kuzma-Giannis-Lopez | KPJ-AJ Green-Portis-Prince-Sims-Rollins (LOST 1ST RD)

Is FVV-Green-Dillon-Amen-Giannis better than what he’s leaving? Not convinced.

[Choose one] Jalen Green($33.3M), Alperen Şengün($33.9M)
[Choose two] Jabari Smith Jr.($12.3M), Tari Eason($5.6M), Reed Sheppard($10.6M), Cam Whitmore($3.5M)
[Possible salary filler] Aaron Holiday($4.9M TO), Jock Landale($8M NG), Jeenathan Williams($2.2M NG)

Then again, you see “proposed” **** like this:

    “All-in!”

Hell of a fall. At the end of the regular season we were the richest team in the trade market, 2nd youngest team in the playoffs and 2nd seed in the West. The draft really screwed us.

I don’t think Stone and Udoka are as chill as everyone else about falling behind. They’ve actually been so patient already. They might not have jobs if they just get bounced for 3 more seasons. I think if the West amps up they won’t stay on the sidelines.

I think the Rockets still want Booker. So far since their season ended we have seen headlines about the Rockets not interested in Booker due to his down season this year, and then you have a headline on them being the front runner for Giannis, I think they likely are still interested in Booker and want to drive the price lower. Getting Giannis would involve revamping the entire roster, I genuinely think the Rockets like their young guys and want to keep as many as possible.

It doesn't really make much sense to trade away a 31 year old James Harden, tank for several years, draft a bunch of young guys and spend time developing them for a few years, and then trade them away for a 31 year old Giannis.

Jalen, Smith, Brooks, Whitmore plus 4 first could kick there rebuild.
Seems like a fair package, because Jabari coming into his own, Houston wont be able to afford him.

Seems like a logical trade package for both teams.

Also rockets get back Pat, and AJ Green - Shooters.
Pick heavy package. Anything more is probably too much. tbh.

Bucks can’t aggregate salaries, so it’s just Giannis and that would be an overpay that wouldn’t let us balance the roster around Giannis, Amen, and Sengun. With all those picks we would have to trade Sengun anyway to field a decent roster. If it’s Jalen and Jabari it should be with 2 picks. If it’s just Sengun and filler it should be 3 picks. Leaving us enough trade assets to replace Sengun and add a shooter. We don’t have to trade for Giannis, but the Bucks probably do have to trade Giannis. If San Antonio is willing to include the 2nd pick in the draft, they are the only team that can compete with our offer of Sengun and 3 really great picks.

i would not mind having Giannis depending on the package we have to give up i know swing for the fences i would take my shot at trying to get him depending on what type of package they want but also have to look into next year draft might be a couple good players in next years draft also so im in on Giannis but have to find a balance

I can't even imagine the Rockets ft% with Giannis, Amen, and Goon sharing the floor.

Interesting observation by Eric Pincus as he proposes a massive 4-team trade. Read it slowly since it has terrible grammar!

"Milwaukee can not trade him, but the leverage only weakens after the offseason, with limited flexibility at the trade deadline in February. Once in the final year of their deal, an NBA superstar has all the power."
Toronto would be mortgaging half a decade of draft assets on a superstar that they only have under contract for 2 years. AND they have to help other teams. Ouch.

Toronto would be absolute fools to do this and the Bucks would be absolute fools to turn it down. They might still be able to work something out, but I can’t believe Toronto would give up all that for a 2 year rental.

I think there is actually some kind of younger kid that has some sort of disability that is an MBA reporter by that name. By now he probably has some sources.

Giannis seems like a pretty loyal person, and he has already won a title. I could see him giving Milwaukee the space to retool.

It’s possible, but I think it is more likely the Bucks leaking information to drum up more value. I think Giannis gets traded this off-season or at the deadline. It just makes no sense for the Bucks or Giannis to think they can actually compete with their roster and no avenue to get better other than organically with a bunch of aging vets. The league, even the East, has passed them by.

He’s got some good pieces lately. And also not one of those trying to be sensational. I give him some credibility.
