and Beltran and Cora were supposedly the masterminds behind it and they are both working. I doubt Luhnow endorsed the trash cans - meanwhile Hinch let it slide and he’s chillin with Detroit. 5 years of exile is enough- bring Luhnow back
MLB is like a mafia, the power brokers have immense power behind the curtains. Luhnow went into the GM game with his genius level IQ causing havoc, with almost a cheat code! I’m sure Luhnow was given ample warnings, and he scoffed at them. So they did what they had to do to make an example of Luhnow. If they can blackball the best GM in generations, they can ax anybody. Problem was that MLB markets the Dodgers, the Red Sox, the Yankees, the Cardinals, the Cubs for royalty. A few others have MLB’s blessing such as the Giants, the Mets, the Blue Jays, the Angels, etc. MLB need to generate maximum money and viewing. And their cheat code is the stable of a few teams they favor. The Houston Astros might be a local flavor, but they don’t generate the national or worldwide excitement. I will hand it to the media, they tried hard in 2017, 2018, and 2019 to sell the Astros as a team of a bunch of good guys. But the dismal TV ratings for the 2019 Astros/Nationals World Series was the reset, and MLB realized that the Astros can’t be in their stable of favorites. The Astros as the villain were more marketable for ratings. With that said, Luhnow stepped on too many toes, and I doubt he ever gets asked to be a part of MLB again.
I've always said the unforgivable sin commited by the Astros (in the eyes of MLB) was defeating Red Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers... in the same playoffs.
Tanking on Purpose and getting Top Picks is the Reason. Rob Manfred MLB completely changed the Draft System into a Lottery. I think it will make the game worse.
Agreed and the fact that the media hates Luhnow because he kept receipts from when he started the rebuild from his detractors. What was the ample warnings and what was the cheat code?
They simply didn't want us to win. We were an easy scapegoat for what was going on. On Luhnow, unfortunately you're right. Everyone else was afforded another opportunity but him. Fiers is on of the biggest scumbags in history.
I don’t know why anyone would have any respect for luhnow. If he wasn’t such. p***y he’d have traded Kyle Tucker in 2019 while he still had a job. Fireable offense imo.
Worth it. He’s always gonna be the GOAT and everyone knows it. Most important figure in Astros history.
If he's not exploring the financial world (not sure on his exact prowess there) what else would he do?
He's a straight up badass. Going to win multiple Cy Youngs. I hope we keep him for a long time. F*ck Kermit.
