Lots of posts directly above you where nobody, including myself, "love" this man. Just post after post of people saying "If you're so confident in his guilt then try him in court". That's all this was about.

When the video of the Tennessee officers showed up in this thread I questioned why they didn't arrest him.

It didn't appear that they did

This is the POS human trafficker that you clowns in here keep referring to him as “the Maryland Dad”. You Dems sucked and that’s why you losers will have to enjoy your political wilderness for decades to come. Nobody with an ounce of common sense will fall for your lies again.

You can't make this stuff up...

Star witness against Kilmar Abrego Garcia was due to be deported. Now he's being freed.

Jose Ramon Hernandez Reyes is a three-time felon who has been released early from a federal prison to a halfway house in exchange for his cooperation in the case.

    Washington Post
    June 28, 2025

The Trump administration has agreed to release from prison a three-time felon who drunkenly fired shots in a Texas community and spare him from deportation in exchange for his cooperation in the federal prosecution of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, according to a review of court records and official testimony.

    That's a neat trick.

I read the article on my phone last night but the WP wouldn't let me view it on my computer without subscribing. I actually had to reload the page several times and do screen captures just so I could see the little bit of text above. Then I manually typed what I could see of it above, lol.

It's rare, but the Garcia story has somehow remained beyond the story's shelf-life. The story was relevant not because he was a good person but because his due process (and by extension, our due process rights) were violated. Now, he is in the criminal justice system facing an indictment and gets his day in court, which is all good and proper. We will see if the government can prove its case.

Now, the way prosecutors use deportation as leverage to get a plea deal strikes me as a gross injustice because it uses deportation as a punishment but doesn't define it as a punishment when considering one's right to due process. But, Garcia is hardly the first to face this predicament and the Trump Admin isn't the one that invented this abuse either.

If I was Garcia, I'd take the Costa Rica deal. They would treat him as a refugee and Costa Rica is a great place to land. He might be very confident that he can beat this indictment, but in the end he won't be able to stop his deportation.

Will he get his day in court? They would love to deport him before that.

They are banking on him taking the Costa Rica deal. Trump can say they still deported him and now with a guilty plea has proof he is a criminal and by extension gang member. They wouldn't be offering that deal if they truly thought he guilty of the crimes he's charged with, but people often do take deals even when not guilty. The hardest part of accepting the deal would be he likely would not be able to come back to the US in any legal way for a very long time. Difficult thing to sacrifice when your wife and child live in the USA. Would they uproot their lives as well to move to Costa Rica?

I'm tempted to move to Costa Rica and I don't even speak Spanish!

I mean, you're right, if he takes the deal, Trump gets to pick the narrative that he was a gang member and criminal and we were right all along sending him to a Salvadoran prison. Americans lose in that scenario. But it will be a lot easier for his wife and child to see him in Costa Rica than it will be in Uganda or wherever Uganda chooses to send him. Even if courts ultimately nix Uganda as a destination, he will not end up in any better place than Costa Rica.

If I were him, I would take the deal.....................he is in a no-win situation, I see a judge has declared he cannot be deported before due process
