Was thinking about this the other day so I decided to start a thread that shows how crazy good Dream was. (And yes, I'm cherry-picking some stats. Sue me.)

    Defensive Rebounds: 9,714
Dream is #10 all-time, but Lebron recently passed him and now is up by about 200. After him, the next current players are Vucevic and Deandre Jordan, both trailing by about 2,000.

    Offensive Rebounds: 4,034
Dream is #10 all-time. Rudy Gobert and Steven Adams are over 1,200 behind Dream. The only current player close is Andre Drummond who is within 300.

    Total Rebounds: 13,748
That's good enough for #15 all-time. The closest active player is Lebron with 11,731. After James, no current player is within 2,800.

    Blocks: 3,830
He's obviously #1 all-time and has more blocks than Brook Lopez (2060) and Rudy Gobert (1,718) combined.
Lopez is the only active player within 2,000 of Dream's total.

    Steals: 2,162
That's more than Marcus Smart (994) and Kyrie Irving (1,022) combined.
Two active players have more steals than Dream, who has now been pushed down to #11 on the all-time ABA/NBA list: Chris Paul and LeBron. After Dream at #11, the next center that shows up is David Robinson at #69 with 1,388.

    Steals Per Game: 1.75
The only center within the first 110 spots. That's a higher average than anyone playing today except for Chris Paul. That includes Kawhi, Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and Westbrook.

Anyway, just a fun little diversion on a Friday night.

The most skilled freak of nature I've ever seen on a court. I'm so glad I got to watch his whole Houston hoops career.

Yep, we were fortunate. Also lucky to have had no reason to watch his Raptors year.

Sadly appropriate at that stage of Dream's career. :(

there are people on this forum who actually think that freaking Jokic is better than Hakeem

    it’s a mental illness

creaming their pants over Jokic’s triple doubles, meanwhile Hakeem was capable of having QUADRUPLE DOUBLES in an era much harder to rack up stats

not to mention how Hakeem would beat the brakes off him in a H2H matchup

We got to watch him evolve from a totally raw "run/dunk/board/block" teenager into the legend he became.

I don't think we'll ever get to see anything like that again, all in this city....but I hope I'm wrong.

I'm not sure any teams in any cities have ever gotten to watch that progression.

eta: I'd post a highlight video but they all seem to have shitty music or jibberjabber instead of the actual game-callings

    eta2: this may be it

This felt appropriate to post here, also as a side note I'm glad NBA games will be back on NBC next season.

There's no catch all advanced stats that reliably captures defensive impact...

So, they just ignore a player that was elite on both sides of the ball.

I go back and watch this regularly. I don't know how NBC managed to make an impending sweep feel like the most epic thing imaginable, but they did it.

Yep, we'll see how things go with the new crews they're brining in, but the production, narration/personalities and music was some of the best.
