Amen has the right approach to progress. Doesn't overwhelm himself and doesn't practice any goofy crap like we used to see in the KPj offseason workout videos. Last offseason he added a baseline 3 to his game. Added a floater as well as his signature middie fadeaway where he seems to just float in the air for a second. Adding a second consistent three pointer either from the corners or top of the key would be awesome. Free throws are a must. He has to be at least at Lebron level (75% or so). His dribbling more than anything else needs to improve. He also has to stop doing that get in there and figure it out thing that bails him out sometimes. Needs a little more FVV/CP3 in his game.
Agreed, and I think he'll be just fine as well. Him, Alpy and others leading by example and get the whole team on board with growth and developing their individual and complementary team skillsets.
Turnover creation of an elite steals guy On-ball defense of an elite wing defender Rim protection of an elite center We haven't had an all-around defensive beast like this since Hakeem
He is a very near future superstar and every move needs to be towards ensuring he's properly built around.
I dont think focusing on just one dude is the right way to beat OKC you need a diverse and deep cast with multiple weapons.
What about build around do you not understand. OKC is built around SGA. Indiana is built around Haliburton. GSW is built around Curry. You can even build around 2 players like Shaq and Kobe. Amen is our best player and a future superstar so getting players that compliment him is really the only reasonable way to go.
How is OKC built around SGA? They just have a really good well rounded team. If SGA gets injured JDub slides to SG and they dont miss a beat. When a team builds around you it will look like Lebron on the Cavs or Harden on the Rockets, the player that is being built around is the center of the team if he is gone the team wont function. With teams like OKC, Cavs and Celtics I dont think they are built around any particular player as they even have redundant or overlapping parts like Mitchell/Garland and SGA/JDub. I would argue even the 2025 Warriors arent specifically built around Curry as Jimmy B and have very contrasting playstyles.
Damn I had my eye on Clowney, but didn't know he was this good a rim protector. Big wingspan, 6'10, very close to an average 3pt jumper. Would rather get him from Nets rather than pear-shaped Cam Johnson.
Was this sarcasm? If it was, my bad. Amen Thompson is a better scorer, better passer, better handle, better bball iq, better defender, better stealer, better rebounder, similar shot blocker and protects the rim just as well as Clowney despite being 6'7. Literally the only thing in all of basketball that Clowney does better is he's a below average 3PT shooter rather than a poor 3PT shooter. Clowney wouldn't start on the Rockets, meanwhile the Rockets are thinking of building the #2 seed around Amen Thompson. The Nets would happily trade us Clowney and multiple picks for Amen and we would say no. I'm not exaggerating when I say we would wouldn't trade Amen Thompson for 3 Noah Clowney clones. You're a Rockets fan man I'm shocked if you know Amen's career and you know a lot about Clowney that you would say this.
They have to figure out how to complement as you said someone that complements others so well and taking advantage of everything. Team up the Swiss Army Knife with other Knives? One thing would be to seek out Offensive players that can shoot because that is where Amen is still developing although you would sign shooters no matter who is on the team.
What??? Calm down. I wasn't comparing them, and didn't mean for it to be interpreted that I thought Clowney was better. I meant...... We aren't gonna trade Amen and They aren't gonna trade Clowney
Yo don't write "the odds of trading him are as low as us trading Amen" and then tell me to calm down when I treat you like an adult who knows how to write. Just say you didn't know how to write what you thought instead of getting triggered.
