There was that one time Framber spring training ring finger injury that was thought to be season ending then he was on the opening day roster.

    ...fire the medical staff.

Technically France is coming back from shoulder surgery and not TJ. Not sure if that is better or worse.

"...until then I'm hoping they call Mayer back up..."

Technically France is coming back from shoulder surgery

I still really want to know who the hell this "Meyer/Mayer" guy is?

Bryce Mayer. He's pitching in Asheville right now. His name had been brought up at the same time in the minor league thread as the post you originally questioned by r3. I had to look it up myself as I was confused, but figured r3 meant Walter.

Blanco is getting Tommy John now as welll, what are the Astros doing differently that may be causing all of these elbows to blow up?

That is like 5 T-Johns in the last 5 years.

    Welcome to 3 weeks ago.

While you're pontificating on these things, you might try asking the Dodgers.

Still no word on Fleury's injury? Went on the 7 day injured list after a weak looking start in mid May. No word on the nature of his injury nor any timeline for his return that I can find. Anybody have any information about his condition?

I wouldn't say better or worse. Shoulder problems were a career death-sentence 50 years ago similar to dead elbow. A brief literature search shows that the return performance is a fraction of pre-injury performance, likely similar to TJS. Link. Some people will come back fully but plenty won't (like TJS).

A notable distinction is that shoulder surgery is a lot more broad than TJS. Elbow surgery is usually internal bracing (half measure) vs TJS (full repair/replacement) of the UCL. Shoulder surgery can either be the rotator cuff or labrum which varying degrees of injuries to one or multiple structures.
