Right on, Trey. A couple of things.... I haven't really believed PHX on Booker...thought it was posturing. Now, we're hearing they want all their picks back. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems inevitable. And, I would take out the BKN swap. But, that's VERY close.
it's not about the size of the package, rather how you use it. commander shepard has the biggest package
Neither. With what we have to give up to acquire either one, a major injury to Giannis or Durant will set this team back to rebuilding mode again. A team full of young players that finished 2nd in the west; our organization needs to be patient and have the ability/assets to pounce if a young player in his prime does become available that fits the timeline of our core group.
Exactly - You cannot trust anything FOs say, especially in PHO's dire situation. When has a FO ever been candid with the media and public? PHO has to optimize the trade value for both KD & Booker. I would guess PHO was trying to get back a majority if not all their picks back for KD, and that obviously is not going to happen. KD's value is being "lowered" probably closer to his actual market value. Why would PHO openly admit they are open to trading Booker when they do not know what they are going to get for KD. Admitting this only devalues KD in a sense. Why trade for KD when you could get Booker? Lots of lies coming out of every FO's mouths.
I think we should become the first team that operates based on forum consensus. I don't think we need to be desperate for Giannis. We're not that far away from contending. So a small package for KD. Basically give them their picks back, salary filler, and maybe Cam for a KD rental. Because that's what it is. There's too much risk he's going to look like Paul George.
They can have 2 of their picks back along with Dillon and they got to eat $15 mil of Durant's contract to sweeten the deal.
Does anyone ACTUALLY believe we are going to win a championship just by adding Durant? I don't. When he won his Championships he had: Prime Steph Curry - 28 Prime Klay Thompson - 29 Prime Draymond Green - 28 Andre Iguadola - 34 ON TOP OF PRIME Kevin Durant!! - 30 A 37 year old Durant added to this squad who are all YEARS AWAY from hitting their prime is not getting you a Championship. You're just paying $55 mil for a name. HARD F\/CKING PASS!! Keep all the PHX picks, watch them implode and cash in on their misery.
It's always been KD and we should have done it at the midseason trade deadline so we would get 3 playoff runs out of him instead of the remaining 2 playoff runs. By now we would have had notes on what didn't work in the playoffs and this summer we'd be making the final tweak for what would get us to the Finals. It was stupid to not pay a little extra to have that advantage. We also wouldn't have needed to give KD a long extension, could have left it to the summer of his free agency. With KD as the 1A scorer who we can load manage, hide defensively. A player who doesn't want to be the PG so you're not taking the ball away from guys who should run the offense (Amen/Jalen/Sengun). A player who still leaves a massive role for Jabari - there's still 32 minutes available for Jabari in this rotation. Sengun/Jabari KD/Jabari Brooks/Tari Green/FA signing Amen/Reed/Holiday Sengun, Green and Amen being more open than they've ever been literally since they picked up a basketball. Just imagine what kind of bind the Warriors would have been in. If they put Draymond on KD, then Sengun toasts them efficiently. If they put him on Sengun, then KD would toast everyone. KD can actually make pull up 3's, so if they're sagging off Amen he just passes the ball to KD and sets a screen. Good luck to Amen's defender closing out from midrange to the 3PT line on one of the greatest spacers in the history of the NBA. Green on catch and shoot over 40% Brooks on catch and shoot over 40% Durant on catch and shoot over 40%, on midrange near 50% Now if Sengun or Amen can hit 33% on their 3's, we are cookin'.
I mean if we can get either of those guys at a bargain "Luka to LA" type of price, well below what you'd expect it to cost, then sure. But at realistic market value, I don't know that it makes sense. Based on their past decisions, I'm expecting the FO to see it the same way and I doubt either trade happens.
