    Jonathan V Last/The Bulwark:

TACO has the potential to hurt Trump.

    (1) It’s simple. Trump Always Chickens Out. You can put that phrase anywhere, apply it to anything, and everyone knows what it means.

    (2) It’s meme-able. You have the slogan. You have the word mark. And you have an universally recognizable image. Hell, there’s even a pre-built emoji for it. You can put this thing anywhere and it will be a symbol of the democracy movement.

    (3) It’s universal. You can apply it to any situation. Trump pulls back on tariffs? TACO. Trump gives in to Putin? TACO. Trump increases the national debt? TACO.

    (4) It’s organic. No Democratic strategist came up with TACO. It’s an observation that emerged from the finance world—from the very same bros who voted for Trump in the first place. You can feel the disdain of his own supporters dripping off of it.

    (5) It hits at something deep inside Trump. It’s about his soul. It’s about his weakness.

So here is my question. When does a tariff get paid?
Because if it is before goods board a freighter and that the trip is longer than a week, there is a good chance the tariff has disappeared or has changed several times before the items reach the United States.

It would be nice to know when and how the tariffs are paid.

My understanding is that it is required to be paid when reaches an American border (ie. Port). If not it gets held up in customs, sent back, or destroyed.

In terms of how importers, exporters, or shipping companies handle those fees I assume vary. The smart thing would be for the exporter/shipper to request additional funds at point of purchase to cover themselves and have a smoother time to get the goods pass customs.

The stories of container ships being empty proves that point because as am importer, why would you pay more upfront for a good that might be cheaper in the near future when the tariff goes away. The 90 days pauses are a way for businesses to "rush" orders over so stores here still have goods.

Trump 2.0 has requested a stay of the federal court's decision in the appeals court, after the Washington, D.C. federal court ruled on the 29th of last month that President Trump could not impose tariffs based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

    In addition, on TACO Tuesday,

    Team Trump 2.0 Demands
'Best Offer by June 4th' from Trade Negotiation Counterparts"

Trump 2.0 has demanded that their trade negotiation partners present the best offers for each major sector. Major sectors include improvement plans for tariffs and quotas (import allotments) on U.S. industrial and agricultural products, as well as non-tariff barrier reforms. The letter also asked countries to specify concrete commitments by country regarding digital trade and economic security.

    no one
    • knows more about Trump or
    • has transacted more with Trump
    than Deutche Bank.

    This week, he Deutsche Bank strategists led by Binky Chadha upped their year-end price target for the S&P 500 index;
The upgrade was largely tied to the idea the Trump 2.0 has “already relented” on tariffs and

bluntly put, there will be more eg of TACO
