again playing against lesser players in the 1980s compared to today. You talking about Jordan beating guys 40 yrs ago. Sure some of those would still be good today like Hakeem but most of those guys wont be in the league today. Like I said all those awards and stats are vs inferior competition like looking at NCAA stats and acting like they are equal to the NBA today. I know this is a tough pill to swallow for all the people who watched Jordan dominate but thats the reality. Cant keep living in the past.

LOL tom brady? Tom Brady, Michael Phelps, Tiger Woods. Those are the undisputed goat Jordan isnt a undisputed goat since Lebron is here.

You’re having to try really really hard here. Let me put it this way, because some weird logic and bias makes you say something insane, doesn’t mean it does for the 99.9%.

I don’t have to try and convince you, it’s akin to arguing with a madman. If I leave this right now pretty much everybody holds the statement I said, to be true—and for good reason. A multibillion dollar brand named after him has been coveted for the very reason…it’s synonymous with the GOAT. There are a handful of people on this planet (nearly all who never watched Jordan) that think LeBron is even in the same conversation. LeBron needs to convince people he’s better than Kobe, not MJ

To his credit Kobe never went shopping around the league seeing who he could team up with, he went to war with what he had.

good riddance to this super team bullshit, notice how it’s dying out with LeBron

I always wonder about the guys today playing with the 90's defensive rules against 90's players...

    How would that work out?

The 90's guards and wings would get bullied outside of the top few, the front court of today would get absolutely abused. Modern wings are significantly more athletic as a whole, but the centers and "power forwards" would probably need stretchers.

    Right?

    What fouls would get called?

Definitely nothing in the post, not hand check on the perimeter, what about the stepback 3's?

Would Curry shoot about 4 FTs a game? Harden would shoot about 7?

eta: Hakeem vs Jokic would be hilariously fun under those rules...or these rules? Any rules?

    Shawn Kemp guards Giannis

    Chris Paul vs John Stockton

    etc, etc, etc....

The AI simulations need to show this to us.

You are saying Lebron is below Kobe and you think I'm the one with the bias? lol Kobe wasnt even the best player for 3 of his rings.

if Lebron played in 1980s and allowed to be physical and guard Jordan 1 on 1 he would end up injuring Jordan. You realize that right? Or you so delusional you think 6'3 Jordan can score on 6'8 Lebron if handcheck is allowed? Part of what makes Lebron amazing is he was able to adapt and thrive in the modern era where if you looked at rookie Lebron he would have fit right in the 1980s with his size, athleticism and style of play.

Lebron can't flop and rest on defense anymore if he played in the 80s & 90s. No one would respect him, and if he keeps acting like a b-tch, he'd get b-tch slapped every game without any flagrant fouls to protect him. Oldschool players were more competitive and less tolerant. He won't last that long.

Lebron started resting on defense when he got to the Lakers, he played more years than MJ by then. So you make fun of Lebron for playing no defense at least he was still playing MJ was already out of shape and spending his money on smoke, booze and gambling.

Lebron has the body of Karl Malone if he is also allowed to commit flagrant fouls he would end the career of MJ and make him have an even shorter career than what he already had. Maybe you forgot Lebron plays 1-4 he can play the wing position. Yeah ok 6'2 guards will give him flagrants but when he hits back those guards are gonna be in stretchers.

I was thinking earlier today about this GOAT debate...and the absolute absurdity of what I was seriously thinking didn't click until later. Kept thinking who was better..

    87-93' jordan

    vs

    96-98' jordan

This muffaka's only rival are his 2 eras where he nearly completely reinvented himself

You only have to look at his Finals records and it is perfect, he won everything.

All we are talking was whether Lebron is close to his talent level and not what they have accomplished because Lebron only won 4......and he had to form the super team.

Building the superteam should already put 2 asterisks next to his name despite his longevity/new sports science.

To me the real argument over who is the GOAT has always been Kareem vs. Wilt. Kareem had more team success and longevity; Wilt was more individually dominant and had a higher peak. I would build around either of them in their prime over MJ or Magic or LeBron or Steph or anyone. Maybe the Kareem as GOAT discourse was not mainstream before, but I think you can find my posts about it from a decade ago or more.
