You can make a serious argument that if you deleted Dylan's catalogue and replaced it with the Bootleg series, he would still have one of the best musical careers ever.

I will be the first to admit that Bob doesn’t have a good singing voice but his early stuff is filled with such great songwriting and outstanding musicians backing him that it just didn’t matter if his voice sounded good or not, you just knew that you had not heard anything else like this.

To me, Dylan influenced everyone from Neil Young to Van Morrison to Bruce Springsteen to Joni Mitchell to Tom Waits to so many more. He is the greatest singer songwriter ever. Yes, it sucks that he sounds even worse now but he is still writing great songs and putting out solid albums now into his 80s. But I understand he is an acquired taste but his influence is still undeniable.

He (Dylan) used to have a radio show on SuriusXM. His speaking voice is as uninteligable as his singing voice, but was suprisingly funny in a very subtle, sly way.

If you put together a list of "artists who have had their songs covered and it was a hit" the runaway winner by a mile would be Bob Dylan. The list is huge. Back of the napkin, I'd guess 20 to 30 songs but it might be many more. I can't even think who would be in second place on that list.

Prince? Petty? But still way behind. Maybe the more musically historically inclined can chime in with someone from the 1950's.

i actually dont think dylan is a bad singer at all. dare i say he is a good singer. he is unconventional, but the dude was able to actually sing in key better than many others then and now. and his phrasing. and his sense of melody. its all uniquely his. nobody else sounds like him and thats part of what makes him great. dylans voice can make me feel something like few other singers can. go listen to blood on the tracks next time you get dumped and tell me you dont feel it!

Barry Gibb wrote A LOT of great songs that were done by the following: The Bee Gees (duh), Andy Gibb, Samantha Sang, Yvonne Elliman, Tavares, Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Frankie Valli, Barbra Streisand, Olivia Newton-John, Celine Dion - just to name a few.

I finally got around to watching the film. I'm not particularly much of a Bob Dylan fan albeit I respect his career and like at least his "hits". Can't believe that dude has 45 albums out or something like that. I had a free rental I spent it on this film. I'm glad I did. Timothy was amazing both with vocals and his guitar playing imo. But, the film itself felt a little disjointed jumping around in both time and place. The makers of the film said it was like an "impressionist painting" of Bob Dylan's early life struggles versus a documentary. I can see that. It was effective at showing his struggles with fame, losing his folk music label, and the acoustic-to-electric stuff. The relationships in the film felt kind of almost shallow...as if the women knew they could never compete with Bob and his music being his first love. But, Timothy totally sold me. Excellent casting all-around imo. You know it's good when the time kind of flies by watching it...which it did for me.

This was an excellent film. Chalmet seems to be a pretty genuine person and actor.
