Team has 3 major league starters and 2 minor league starters. Not a winning formula. Offense needs to produce.
Surprised me too, but we have the 6th best OPS in MLB over the past 30 days https://www.mlb.com/stats/team/ops?timeframe=-29
I would agree with this. We can't sustain this. And 32-27 is not a division winning rate most likely on top of that (88 wins).
OPS is a flawed stat that overrates singles, which count twice. We're middle of the pack in runs in that time frame.
Uh huh... except they're 7th in SLG and 6th in OBP and 3rd in BA Now tell me how those are phantom stats, Copernicus
technically every hit counts twice in OPS, but sure it treats singles as better than walks, bc in many situations they are better. but walks during the postseason sure are nice
Didn't claim it was a phantom stat, chief. Just that it overrates singles. They are 19th in doubles, 7th in homers, 25th in walks. Some of their difficulty in plating runs is just bad sequencing, but not all of it. I think if you could sort by OBP + ISO, so not counting the BA twice, you'd get a better picture.
