Be fair, I did say "unless they get Zion or something and Zion actually plays a full season." When Zion plays he absolutely is a game changer, the only issue with Zion boils down to him not playing.
I don't think there is one actually. Sure we can name other busts but what separates Zion from those other guys, like Anthony Bennett or Kwame Brown or Darko is...Zion can actually play and dominate. He's just too lazy to care about his health and his career. So I don't even feel bad for him like I would say a guy like Greg Oden. Even if people say Jalen is a bust, he's at least giving his best, just not been good enough to meet expectations. Zion just don't give a F. But Zion would be a perennial all-star if he could just play basketball.
Booked instead of Green and we’d be fighting OKC in the West finals. Yeah he only shot 34% this season but guarantee he wouldn’t have 6 games of pathetic scoring like Green did.
Closest I can think of is Michael Beasley, though Zion's the better talent. Beasley even now has game for days, just couldn't follow the rules and never went anywhere or became anything worth a **** in the league because of it.
Always liked Cool Beans. Man, was he a bucket with the Rockets. He is doing BIG3 and YouTube content now. Far cry from the NBA, but still cool to see he is hanging around basketball.
Yeah, that was a confusing one to me, I'm not all that familiar with it though but when you see him move and shoot and handle it's kind of a mystery why he didn't make more of his career. That was a pretty good draft too, nothing amazing, but a lot of players that went on to have good careers drafted after him.
Minor Suns news. They're in the final round of head coach search. Supposedly their org ran some of the names by Devin Booker for input. Nuggets assistant Micah Nori blieved to be eliminated. Goofy big ears Chris Quinn still there. Quinn always interviewing to leave MIA. Sweeney might be one of the front runners.
Right and then he scored 55 points across the remaining 6 games. Thats my point. There’s no consistency. We got to a game 7 with our regular season leading scores basically missing for 6 out of 7 games. With Booker we probably beat them in 5.
To put it very bluntly, dude was more interested in getting high and coasting on his natural talent than dedicating himself to the process/work and becoming a top tier player. Just kept getting caught smoking weed at a time before that was as acceptable in the league/world as it is today. You can watch him now past his prime and see the talent level is astronomical, and all the players I've ever heard said he used to beat everybody 1 on 1 with ease, but dude couldn't focus. That's why he reminds me of Zion, because it's entirely in both players' control. We're not talking Greg Oden where his body just didn't pan out.
Yeah, felt bad for Oden. He was just starting to come into his own and becoming dominate on the block. Saw a lot of his games as I was living in Portland. My father, who is a radiologist, read his scans and after his last injury/surgery said he would never play again. Apparently, his knee was a war zone. Not a surprise, Oden was a 45-year-old disguising himself as 20-something.
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/63...steven-adams-giannis-antetokounmpo-nba-draft/ As mentioned last month, longterm interest in Suns star guard Devin Booker has cooled, team and league sources said. Having been a desired target for a while, Houston’s decision to pivot from Booker is the result of a few factors; his lowest-scoring season since 2021, his worst shooting season since 2019, a hefty $100 million price tag, internal belief that Phoenix will extend Booker, lack of desire to gut a rising contender and the continued growth of fourth-year guard Jalen Green. The latter, which has become a polarizing talking point on social media, is arguably the most important internally. Green’s playoff struggles against Golden State are viewed as an opportunity for improvement in key areas, with the organization placing more onus on his production over an 82-game season than one series. But outside of Green, Houston’s desire to keep its young core together is strong, team sources said. Internal calculus concerning any potential star and their projected trajectory would be compared to, say, the high ceilings of an Amen Thompson or Alperen Şengün, who both earned NBA honors this season. • This is not to say the Rockets and Suns are not in communication. On the contrary, Phoenix is aggressive in pursuit of a) trading Kevin Durant and b) regaining full control of their draft capital starting with the No. 10 pick in next month’s draft, team sources said. Since the conclusion of the season, Houston has fielded several calls from Phoenix, who have since gradually lowered their asking price for Durant, those sources said. There is a price where the Rockets would be interested, but with a fear of breaking up their roster for a 36-year-old coming off injury, doubt remains over a deal materializing.
I am definitely fantasizing about that 2027 Phoenix pick. If they extend Booker at the Super Max, the ‘27 and ‘29 picks will be gold. They can keep Booker and bottom out in 2028/29.
Some more content for you basketball psychos. Later they talk about Book's extension, with the amont of money PHX can throw (waste) on Booker, don't think he's coming.
