https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/05/astros-to-promote-jacob-melton.html I am excited to see Melton in the outfield. I really respect and like Altuve but he is butchering the Left Field defense, at no fault of his own. I would rather the Astros just move Altuve back to 2B, where he isn’t great but he at least is more respectable. For games where Framber pitches, have him be the DH or give him an off day. But literally creating a defensive hole in LF is like shooting yourselves in the foot. Here is to hoping that the Astros are moving up Melton to make the OF defense elite again!!!
The 2024 Astros had 13 position players with 100+ PAs. Altuve, Pena, Alvarez, Diaz, Meyers, Dubon, Caratini, and Chas are still on this team. The other 5 are: Bregman age 31 Singleton age 33 Tucker age 28 Abreu age 38 Loperfido age 26. =Avg age 31.2 New this year are: Paredes age 26 Walker age 34 Smith age 22 Rodgers 28 Melton age 24 =Avg age 26.8
Meyers has started 30 games in a row. Does he get a day off? Pretty avg looking RH on the mound. Good chance to get Melton's feet wet and give Jake a 2 day rest. Altuve is likely in LF but it could be an all rookie OF today.
Today's lineup: Jeremy Peña SS Isaac Paredes 3B Jose Altuve LF Christian Walker 1B Yainer Diaz C Victor Caratini DH Cam Smith RF Jacob Melton CF Mauricio Dubón 2B
I expect Melton to play most days. Unfortunately I will be surprised if Whitcomb gets to play much even though what he’s done in AAA the last 2 seasons shows he deserves a good long look in the majors.
I don't know why you stopped watching but I damn sure know why I did. It was a game that turned to **** before it ended.
I wish Dana Brown call up Power Pitchers that can Locate instead of Low 90s Left Handers Colton Gordon, Steven Okert. Move up the A Ball Power Pitchers, that is where the Star Talent are. Luis Rodriguez traded to the Astros from the White Sox pitches like Luis Castillo sidearm Power Pitcher. Forrest Whitley really needs Help in Location. He is overthrowing instead of toning the mileage down on his pitches and locate the corners better.
Does anybody know where I can verify Melton hit 30.5 feet / sec going to first? Though old stats, it was tied with Buxton for first on the old stats I could find. All I can find is from the first or second year they were tracking them.
His today (I almost asked you which AB you were talking about, then I remembered he K'd the other 2 times) has not hit the midnight stat update yet, but this is where you want to look, it's fun little tool to play around with: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/lead...025&position=&team=&min=10&sort=1&sortDir=asc
