I really like most of his posts but his Chas hate is clinical, and a bit worrisome. I know he wants the Astros to win, even if it’s because of Chas, but his aversion to Chas doesn’t reflect the same interesting and sound logic that most of his posts do. It feels more personal. I can’t help but feel partly responsible.
You dont know this. Dezenzo is a very young player who hasn't gotten many AB's in the minors. The best is yet to come from him once he gets more experience.
It’s pretty amazing given the slow starts of Altuve, Diaz, Alvarez and injury to Arrighetti and Garcia. We also have the 4th best record in the AL a half-game behind the 3rd best. I think we can lay all the trade Framber clamor to rest. I think this team adds a SP and a LH bat at the deadline further decimating our minor leagues, but our Major League team is still young enough to re-build the minors and maintain competitiveness over the next 3-4 years.
Once again, you keep referring to it as "hate" I would be as happy as anyone else ( well, maybe not you) if Chas does something great, AGAIN. I absolutely acknowledge that he was great in 2023 and very good before that. And that catch. . . This has nothing to do with how much I like or don't like him. It is my opinion, based on his baseball tools, what I have seen over the last 2 seasons, and how I expect him to age. I expect myself to be broke the rest of my life. That is totally different than wanting to be broke. It doesn't mean I hate money. They are not related in any way.
So I've stated before that I think we need to win 2 out of every 3 games started by Brown and Valdez and then go .500 in the rest of the games in order to be successful. That gets us to right at the 90 win mark. Looks like what it will take to win the division. After a terrible start, Brown and Valdez starts have now been mostly wins (Valdez 5 straight and Brown 6 of the last 8). Brown/Valdez 14-9 Remainder 17-17
The kinda weird frustrating part about Jake and Chas is they both throw left but for some reason bat right.
He is a really gifted guy. Probably the most gifted catcher in the history of the franchise. He is still raw in a lot of ways and can get too antsy - but the bat speed, the power, the ability to alter swing path mid swing - those are all elite. If he ever gets better at working the count and building at bats - he can hit 40+ homers. He has all the tools to be an absolute monster at crushing pitchers when he knows what’s coming.
