I 100% believe he will be a star and is our best player going forward. But he needs to take a massive leap in shooting which will take longer than a year to fully develop. You are kidding yourself if you think we can win with Giannis and Amen tandem when they both can only score from the same spots in the court.

Harden played starter minutes in his last year (31 per game) won 6th man and dropped 30 points twice in the 2012 playoffs. He was no secret and was ready to break out.

Yeah, for sure. I really liked his game coming out of college. Unique play style and feel for the game that I had not seen before. Think in general everyone already knew he would be good, but not top 5 at his peak.

It did indeed. Morey also made some other great moves when trading or drafting underated or valued guys. Lowry, Landry, Scola, and Dragic to name a few. He has really fallen off now. Still wrongly believes in the three star model.

Monte was not trash, it was just you can't have 2 6'2 lead guards. Again, Curry wasn't a slam dunk. I remember people on this board talking about how great the Spanish pg would be because of his showing vs America in the world games. Flynn was that explosive pg who could get anywhere on the court. Nobody saw that hip that derailed him. Imagine Curry never getting over the ankle issues. Drafting Klay wasn't a no brainer either. Firing Jackson and hiring Kerr wasn't easy either.

You missed my point, when they made those decisions, they moved the timeline up. We just witnessed coaches that won a ring fired less than 3 yrs after winning that ring.

Monte absolutely was trash, a zero difference horrible efficiency guard. Completely useless. Make jackson was also horrid. They got Klay because they won a coin flip. Kerr wasn’t their first choice, their first choice turned them down. There’s an immense amount of luck to team building, for every situation.

Wrong Fvv and brooks won't be on the team if we ever win a championship. If you think otherwise your delusional.

You don't think Brooks or FVV are championship quality role players? Brooks isn't as good as Lou Dort or Caruso? What about Nembhart? If you don't think so, I don't think you understand basketball.

I think they are championship quality role played on the wrong team. Plenty of teams could use them. We are just way too young to win with them. Trading to accelerate our timeline makes no sense. I'm all for trading for better players but they have to be under 28 for it to even make sense.

If you change it to quality bench role players sure they could be championship quality.

It's looking like we could have a Gasol brother or Divac and both were able to compete for titles as a key secondary player. Keep him and build around him. Bonus, his old man game will age well.

That's not what you said dude.

You said: "No one could have guessed that Harden would become a superstar. I doubt even Morey knew what exactly he was getting in Harden."

Harden dropped 40 in a 6th man role in the reg season. 30 twice. He was spectacular in that 2012 Western Conf finals against Spurs. He was selected to the USA 2012 olympic team. The guy was on his way to stardom and it was clear. Danny Ainge knew this and wanted Harden for Uncle Jeff in 2011. Morey knew this. no secret.

It does make sense as has been discussed ad nauseum on this site. This team had little to no vet experience in the 2 Silas years. You always need vets to guide and lead. Vets with winning experience. Vets that can come in and establish an identity and culture for a team. Every great team has an identity and good culture. SGA had vets with winning experience surrounding him rookie year (bev, lou will, gallinari). And a great mentor in CP3 in OKC. Rockets needed to guide their young core. I don’t believe Rockets execs thinking this iteration will bring a title. The idea is to establish a baseline to build from.

We need vets to help mentor yes but that doesn't mean to play Fred van vleet 40 plus minutes every night when he's shooting 20%...

Your GF was right, every trip down the court Sengun would raise his hands and beg
    the refs for a call.

Jalen could learn the head whiplash from Sengun though. SGA, Ant-Man, LeBron,
Brunson. you name them they get away with it.

Take the Kevin Hart acting class

Giannis and amen work way better than Gianni’s and Sengun together.

Sengun clogs the rim and doesn’t draw double teams

I don’t think FVV and Brooks being present on the roster precludes us from being one necessarily.

I think we are not there yet, but to act like we aren’t there yet because of FVV and Brooks is kinda ridiculous.
